The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

What Do Large Language Models Know About Materials?
If large language models (LLMs) are to be used inside the material discovery and engineering process, they must be benchmarked for the accurateness of intrinsic material knowledge. The current work introduces 1) a reasoning process through the processing–structure–property–performance chain and 2) a tool for benchmarking knowledge of LLMs concerning ...

A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

New AI‐Assisted Approach for Expanding the Solution Space: Application to Lattice Structure Design
This work introduces an innovative framework for designing structured materials by ex panding the design space through reparameterization of qualitative variables into continuous structural descriptors. Combined with machine‐learning‐based prediction and multi‐objective optimization, the approach enables the discovery of novel lattice architectures ...

NOMENCLATURAL CHANGES IN THE STAPHYLINIDAE (INSECTA: COLEOPTERA) [PDF]
Abstract More than 775 nomenclatural changes are proposed and nomenclatural problems are discussed for the Staphylinidae. Two generic names are proposed as replacement names: Torobus for species formerly in Trigonopselaphus, and Ryvkinius for the preoccupied Mesoporus Ryvkin.

Digitalizing electroplating requires both domain knowledge and interoperability. This work introduces PlatOn, a domain ontology for trivalent chromium plating and coating characterization, and a hybrid pipeline that aligns it to a mid‐level reference ontology by combining eight similarity metrics with language model reasoning. Expert‐validated mappings

Nomenclatural changes in Mymaridae (Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea)
Three New World species are transferred from Polynema Haliday to other genera of Mymaridae and redescribed based on examination of their type specimens: Polynema albicoxa Ashmead to Acmopolynema Ogloblin as Acmopolynema albicoxa (Ashmead), comb. n., Polynema porteri (Brèthes) to Agalmopolynema Ogloblin as Agalmopolynema porteri (Brèthes), comb. n., and
