Additive manufacturing of magnesium alloys by laser is difficult because the melting point of the oxide layer is much higher than the evaporation temperature of the metal underneath. Making the oxide layer thinner can solve this problem. Alloying magnesium with strontium makes the oxide layer thinner, especially at 0.5 wt%.

Learning nominal automata [PDF]
We present an Angluin-style algorithm to learn nominal automata, which are acceptors of languages over infinite (structured) alphabets. The abstract approach we take allows us to seamlessly extend known variations of the algorithm to this new setting. In particular we can learn a subclass of nominal non-deterministic automata. An implementation using a

Anomaly Detection Method for Hybrid Workpieces Using Dynamic Time Warping
Monitoring of hybrid workpieces: when machining hybrid workpieces, unavoidable axial deviations of the material transition zone cause temporal shifts in the process force signals. A new anomaly detection method based on dynamic time warping is proposed to detect material defects.

From Damage to Functionality: Remanufacturing of Thrust Roller Bearings by Tailored Forming
Herein, the wear and fatigue behavior of repaired bearing raceways with a new powder alloy is investigated using a FE8 test‐rig and an oscillating tribometer. The tests are compared with industrial manufactured bearings to evaluate the repair quality. The repair can extend the service life of the repaired bearing to that of a new bearing and improves ...

Argument structure in nominalizations : the case of the light verb construction in German [PDF]
The predicate associated with the verb fails to express its full argument structure, while the predicate associated with the nominalization preserves its original argument ...

This is a study of Russian nominalizing evaluative suffixes that form nouns of the -a-declension. Such suffixes are very interesting to investigate because they can consistently change the animacy, declension class, and grammatical gender of the base to ...

Hydrostatic bearings excel in high‐precision applications, but their performance hinges on a continuous external supply. This study evaluates various material combinations for sliding surfaces to mitigate damage during supply failures or misalignment and to discover the most effective materials identified for enhancing the reliability and efficiency of

Relative clause structures in the Rawang language [PDF]
This paper discusses the types of relative clause and noun complement structures found in the Rawang language, a Tibeto-Burman language of northern Myanmar, as well as their origin and uses, with data taken mainly from naturally occurring texts.

Developing process parameters for the laser‐based Powder Bed Fusion of metals can be a tedious task. Based on melt pool depth, the process parameters are transferable to different laser scan speeds. For this, understanding the melt pool scaling behavior is essential, particularly for materials with high thermal diffusivity, as a change in scaling ...
