Weed Research, 2013
SummaryMany public authorities rely on the use of non‐chemical weed control methods, due to stringent restrictions on herbicide use in urban areas. However, these methods usually require more repeated treatments than chemical weed management, resulting in increased costs of weed management. In order to investigate the efficacy of four non‐chemical weed

Non-chemical approaches to weed control in horticulture
Phytoparasitica, 1992Concern about herbicide safety has renewed interest in non-chemical systems of weed control. Alternative approaches for dealing with weeds can be broadly grouped into cultural and biological methods. Some of the options available for controlling weeds without the use of herbicides are discussed.

A Review of Non-Chemical Weed Control Techniques
Biological Agriculture & Horticulture, 1990ABSTRACT Weeding has traditionally been a labour intensive operation in crop production. The use of herbicides was rapidly accepted by many farmers and became an accepted part of crop husbandry, although a few farmers always questioned the widespread use of chemicals in farming, and the concept of organic farming necessitated a non-chemical approach to

An integrated weed management experiment was conducted to compare the efficacy of chemical and non-chemical weed management methods in onion under the All India Network Research Project on Onion and Garlic. The three-year combined results revealed that all the weed management methods significantly influenced weed density.

The efficiency of non-chemical weed control in winter rapeseed
2018Before harvesting the lowest weed dry matter was determined in plots with mechanical weed control compared to other non-chemical weed control methods. The effect of thermal weed control on the weed dry matter increased with the use of bio-preparations.

Non-chemical weed control in different cropping systems
Weeds are considered one of the major constraints in agriculture. The use of herbicides is the most common form of weed control so far. Therefore, herbicides account for approximately 60% of the agrochemicals applied worldwide. However, the raised public awareness of the environmental drawbacks as well as the risk of pesticide residues in the human ...openaire +1 more source
