On Phenomenological Failure Loci of Metals under Constant Stress States of Combined Tension and Shear: Issues of Coaxiality and Non-Uniqueness

open access: yesMetals, 2019
The present study investigates how the choice of characterization test and the composition of the stress state in terms of tension and shear can produce a non-unique failure locus in terms of stress triaxiality under plane stress conditions.

Constraints on the active tectonics of the Friuli/NW Slovenia area from CGPS measurements and three-dimensional kinematic modeling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We use site velocities from continuous GPS (CGPS) observations and kinematic modeling to investigate the active tectonics of the Friuli/NW Slovenia area.

Formulation of non-coaxial plastic dissipation and stress–dilatancy relations for geomaterials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Stress–dilatancy theories play a central role in the modeling of the plastic dissipation of geomaterials. There exist several mathematical frameworks for describing the stress–dilatancy behavior of soils.

Orthogonality of non-coaxial Laguerre-Gaussian beams

open access: yesOptics Express
The conventional orthogonality of Laguerre-Gaussian (LG) beams is widely recognized and serves as the fundamental basis for mode division multiplexing utilizing LG beams as channels. However, this conventional orthogonality holds true only when two LG beams share the same axis.

Non-Coaxiality and Energy Dissipation in Granular Materials

open access: yesSoils and Foundations, 2000
ABSTRACT The paper presents a theoretical and experimental study of the effects of non-coaxiality or non-coincidence of the principal stress and the principal plastic strain increment directions on the behaviour of granular materials. Experimental results from hollow cylindrical tests on sand involving principal stress rotation which support ...

Analysing non-coaxial folding effects in the Small Circle Intersection method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The Small Circle (SC) tools analyse the stereographic tracks (small circles) followed by the palaeomagnetic vectors during folding processes. Working with interfolding and synfolding remagnetizations, the Small Circle Intersection (SCI) method allows ...

Effect of Laser Deoxidation on Adhesive‐Bonded Aluminum in an Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser ablation of aluminum under oxygen‐free conditions. The goal is to produce oxide‐free substrates that enable improved adhesive bonding with epoxy. Optimized laser parameters (90% overlap, 300 µJ) combined with oxide‐free substrates result in the highest tensile strength of the adhesive bond.
