Non-Coherence in Transmission Line Arrangements

2006 International Conference on Power System Technology, 2006
Non-coherence in system reliability refers to the fact that absence of a component from the system creates a more reliable system state or provides a higher system reliability level. This phenomenon may exist in transmission systems. Unfortunately, it has not been sufficiently recognized in the power industry.

Index Modulation-Based Non-Coherent Transmission in Grant-Free Massive Access

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2021
In this paper, the non-coherent transmission in grant-free massive machine-type-communication-enabled random access is studied, and a new index modulation (IM)-based non-coherent data transmission scheme is presented. In the proposed scheme, each user is allocated $N\ (N>1)$ non-orthogonal pilot sequences.

Analysis of non-coherent receivers for bandpass data transmission

International Journal of Electronics, 1988
The effect of restricted bandwidth (BW) on the performance of non-coherent digital communication systems is investigated. It is assumed that the signal is corrupted by both gaussian noise and Inter Symbol Interference (ISI). Under this assumption the probability density function of the received signal, given that a ‘’ or a ‘’transmitted is obtained ...

A 2 bit/s-Hz non-coherent transmission

IEEE Photonic Society 24th Annual Meeting, 2011
We present new insights into partial response amplitude modulation and direct detection. An 80% spectral tightening of the transmitted signal is demonstrated, while suffering only 3dB of penalty with respect to the regular non-coherent systems, as well as 2 bit/s-Hz long-haul transmission.

Non-coherent distributed space-time processing for multiuser cooperative transmissions

IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2005
User cooperation can provide spatial transmit diversity gains, enhance coverage and potentially increase capacity. Existing works have focused on two-user cooperative systems with perfect channel state information at the receivers. In this paper, we develop several distributed space-time processing schemes for general N-user cooperative systems, which ...

On Antenna Diversity Exploitation for Non-Coherent Multicarrier On-Off Keying Transmission

2007 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference, 2007
The simplicity of the required transmitter-receiver pair and inherent coding ability of non-coherent multicarrier on-off keying (MOOK) are the reasons for its popular choice for a number of communication systems. Among the disadvantages for this technique however are its relative bandwidth inefficiency and its susceptibility to frequency selective ...

Advanced digital signal processing for coherent and non-coherent optical transmission

2015 17th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2015
Digital signal processors (DSP) are recently introduced in coherent long-haul optical transmission systems as well as in non-coherent access networks. This contribution reviews a number of specific signal processing algorithms that are useful in such systems. We focus on advanced equalisers for linear and nonlinear distortions. We examine the Tomlinson-

Resource Allocation and Hybrid OMA/NOMA Mode Selection for Non-Coherent Joint Transmission

IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2022
Supporting non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) in non-coherent joint transmission (NCJT) systems is beneficial for improving spectral efficiency (SE), but the interference coordination, user scheduling, and resource allocation problems in this new scenario have not been well studied.

M-ary chirp modulation for coherent and non-coherent data transmission

2015 IEEE 28th Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (CCECE), 2015
M-ary chirp modulated signals are described and illustrated as a function of modulation parameters-h, the peak-to-peak frequency deviation divided by the symbol rate; and w, the frequency sweep width divided by the symbol rate. The detection of these signals in AWGN channel is addressed and optimum receiver structures for both coherent and non-coherent

Non-Coherent C-RAN: Index Modulation Aided Transmission and Non-Bayesian Detection

2021 International Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing (IWCMC), 2021
In this paper, a non-coherent transmission scheme in cloud-radio access network (C-RAN) for machine-type communication (MTC) is presented. In the proposed scheme, each user is allocated multiple unique pilot sequences, among which part of pilot sequences is activated and their superposition is transmitted when this user is active.
