Non-invasive method for rotor bar fault diagnosis in three-phase squirrel cage induction motor with advanced signal processing technique

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
The condition monitoring of the rotor bar in the squirrel cage induction motors (SCIMs) is performed with various contact methods and non-contact methods.

Research on Non-Contact and Non-Fixed Cable Force Measurement Based on Smartphone

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
Stay cable is the major load-carrying element in cable-stayed bridges. The process of monitoring cable forces would be beneficial to ensure the safety of bridges.

Quantitative non-contact dynamic Casimir force measurements [PDF]

open access: yesEPL (Europhysics Letters), 2009
We show that the Casimir force gradient can be quantitatively measured with no contact involved. Results of the Casimir force measurement with systematic uncertainty of 3% are presented for the distance range of 100-600 nm. The statistical uncertainty is shown to be due to the thermal fluctuations of the force probe.

Predictive Modeling of Surface Wear in Mechanical Contacts under Lubricated and Non-Lubricated Conditions

open access: yesSensors, 2021
The surface wear in mechanical contacts under running conditions is always a challenge to quantify. However, the inevitable relationship between the airborne noise and the surface wear can be used to predict the latter with good accuracy.

Non-Contact Speed Measurement—a Comparison of Optical Systems

open access: yesMeasurement + Control, 1973
Four different optical methods of speed measurement for moving surfaces are considered, two using incoherent light and two using coherent laser light. These systems are described as spatial filters acting on the Wiener spectrum of the moving surface. For

Qubit measurement using a quantum point contact with a quantum Langevin equation approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We employ a quantum Langevin equation approach to establish non-Markovian dynamical equations, on a fully microscopic basis, to investigate the measurement of the state of a coupled quantum dot qubit by a nearby quantum point contact.

A Non-Contacted Height Measurement Method in Two-Dimensional Space

open access: yesSensors
Height is an important health parameter employed across domains, including healthcare, aesthetics, and athletics. Numerous non-contact methods for height measurement exist; however, most are limited to assessing height in an upright posture.

Soil water retention behaviour for an instrumented embankment

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2016
Measurement of soil suction is important as soil suction is one of the two stress-state variables that control both the hydro and mechanical behaviour of unsaturated soils. One of the soil suction measurement techniques is the filter paper method.
