Non-contact Voltage Measurement Technique for On-Line Monitoring of Transient Overvoltages

open access: yesProceedings of the Nordic Insulation Symposium, 2022
The electric power system is continuously growing in its size, complexity and required reliability. There is an increased risk due to transient overvoltages which can deteriorate the insulation for different power system components. There is a need for monitoring of transient voltages to better monitor the effects due to them on the insulation of the ...

A novel non‐contact voltage measurement based on distribution lines

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission & Distribution
Abstract Currently, for distribution line voltage measurement, there is no effective and convenient dynamic calibration method of coupling capacitance for capacitive coupling‐based sensors. Therefore, a differential non‐contact voltage measurement method based on harmonic injection is proposed in this paper.

Non-contact voltage measurement using electronically varying capacitance

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2010
A voltage measurement methodology is presented, based on the principle of a vibrating capacitance, but implemented electronically. A transconductor with time-varying gain synthesises the vibrating capacitance, the peak to peak charge current of which changes as different DC voltages are applied to the capacitively coupled input.

Non-contact Voltage Measurement Based on Electric-Field Effect

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2011
AbstractIn this paper, According to theoretical analysis of detection method of voltage, a new method of non-contact detection method of voltage is designed under any severe environmental conditions, for example, in coal mines. Being different from traditional detection method of voltage, electric-field state is detected using Field Effect Transistor ...
