Non-Contact Measurement of Line Voltage

IEEE Sensors Journal, 2016
This paper presents a capacitively coupled non-contact voltage sensor, which is specifically optimized for monitoring line voltages ranging from plug level to distribution levels at thousands of volts. The sensor uses a new arrangement of electrostatic pickups to measure the rate of change of an unknown potential, and digitally integrates that the rate

Current and Voltage Reconstruction From Non-Contact Field Measurements

IEEE Sensors Journal, 2016
Non-contact electromagnetic field sensors can monitor voltage and current in multiple-conductor cables from a distance. Knowledge of the cable and sensor geometry is generally required to determine the transformation that recovers voltages and currents from the sensed electromagnetic fields.

Dual capacitive sensors for non-contact AC voltage measurement

Sensors and Actuators A: Physical, 2011
Abstract Non-contact voltage sensors are designed to detect the voltage in a wire or piece of equipment without actually making direct contact with the conductor or energized part. Conventional single capacitive probe approach is not accurate and could easily be affected by environmental factors.

Non-contact measurement of dc voltages using nonlinear elements

Measurement Science and Technology, 2012
In this work, it is shown that dc voltages may be measured via a capacitive interface, provided that the capacitance between the measurement system and the dc voltage source being measured is nonlinearized. This nonlinearization is achieved by the addition of a nonlinear capacitor in series with the coupling capacitance.

Non - contact voltage estimation method based on power frequency electric field sensor

Ferroelectrics (Print), 2022
The existing non-contact voltage measurement methods are advanced because of their high insulation, safety and reliability, but the distance between the sensor and the transmission line is difficult to measure. Therefore, a non-contact voltage estimation

Non-contact Voltage Measurement System for Low-Voltage Power-Line

2023
In this paper, a non-contact measurement method of the power line voltage based on capacitive coupling principle is proposed, which realizes the reliable measurement of line voltage waveform. Firstly, the basic principle of the non-contact voltage measurement method is introduced in this paper, which mainly includes self-calibration and online ...
