Global Non-convex Optimization with Discretized Diffusions

open access: yesCoRR, 2018
An Euler discretization of the Langevin diffusion is known to converge to the global minimizers of certain convex and non-convex optimization problems. We show that this property holds for any suitably smooth diffusion and that different diffusions are suitable for optimizing different classes of convex and non-convex functions.

Optimized Temporal Interference Stimulation Based on Convex Optimization: A Computational Study

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Neural Systems and Rehabilitation Engineering
Temporal interference (TI) stimulation is a non-invasive method targeting deep brain regions by applying two pairs of high-frequency currents with a slight frequency difference to the scalp.

Unified Power Allocation for Receive Spatial Modulation Based on Approximate Optimization

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
In this paper, a novel unified power allocation (PA) framework is proposed for receive (pre-coding aided) spatial modulation (RSM). We find that the PA matrix design can be formulated as a non-convex quadratically constrained quadratic program (QCQP ...

An Effective Optimization Method for Machine Learning Based on ADAM

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
A machine is taught by finding the minimum value of the cost function which is induced by learning data. Unfortunately, as the amount of learning increases, the non-liner activation function in the artificial neural network (ANN), the complexity of the ...

High‐Power Rapid Laser‐Induced Synthesis of Multi‐functional Cobalt Metal‐Organic Framework With an Unprecedented Synthesis Efficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Laser‐assisted synthesis enables rapid (within 1 h) and high‐yield (≥90%) production of Co‐MOFs with mesoporous structures, tunable magnetic and optical properties, and efficient adsorption of N2, CH4, and CO2 for low‐energy gas separation. DFT calculations elucidate the electronic structure and adsorption behavior.

Additive Manufacturing of Patient‐Specific Intracranial Aneurysm Cell Culture Models

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Patient‐specific intracranial aneurysm models were fabricated using chocolate moulding, 3D printed water‐soluble cores, and direct resin 3D printing. Moulding PDMS around sacrificial cores made of chocolate or 3D printed water‐soluble resin yielded accurate, expandable, and endothelializable models that outperformed resin‐based approaches.
