Total focussing method for volumetric imaging in immersion non destructive evaluation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This paper describes the use of a 550 (25x22) element 2MHz 2D piezoelectric composite array in immersion mode to image an aluminum test block containing a collection of artificial defects.

Parallel double-plate capacitive proximity sensor modelling based on effective theory

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2014
A semi-analytical model for a double-plate capacitive proximity sensor is presented according to the effective theory. Three physical models are established to derive the final equation of the sensor. Measured data are used to determine the coefficients.

Pulse-Echo Harmonic Generation Measurements for Non-destructive Evaluation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Ultrasonic harmonic generation measurements have shown great potential for detecting nonlinear changes in various materials. Despite this, the practical implementation of the technique in non-destructive evaluation (NDE) has typically been limited to the

Multiple temperature sensors embedded in an ultrasonic “spiral-like” waveguide

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2017
This paper studies the propagation of ultrasound in spiral waveguides, towards distributed temperature measurements on a plane. Finite Element (FE) approach was used for understanding the velocity behaviour and consequently designing the spiral waveguide.

High-precision in situ 3D ultrasonic imaging of localized corrosion-induced material morphological changes

open access: yesnpj Materials Degradation, 2023
We present an ultrasonic research technique that can carry out in situ, direct monitoring of the 3D morphologies of corrosion substrates. The technique has a customizable lateral resolution, an ultra-high axial resolution of 100 nm, and an experimentally

A Multisensor System for the Characterization of the Field Pressure in Terrain. Accuracy, Response, and Adjustments

open access: yesSensors, 2019
In different disciplines of science, the knowledge of the resulting pressures in the subsoil can help to understand physical phenomena of mass exchange between the atmosphere and the terrain. The measurement of lower differential pressures is complicated

STUDIES OF ACOUSTIC EMISSION SIGNATURES FOR QUALITY ASSURANCE OF SS 316L WELDED SAMPLES UNDER DYNAMIC LOAD CONDITIONS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Engineering Science and Technology, 2016
Acoustic Emission (AE) signatures of various weld defects of stainless steel 316L nuclear grade weld material are investigated. The samples are fabricated by Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) Welding Method have final dimension of 140 mm x 15 mm x 10 mm.
