Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

Non Destructive Evaluation of Glass-Epoxy Composite using Impact-echo Method [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Design and Manufacturing Technology, 2017
In this paper a new method for Nondestructive testing or Nondestructive evaluation is proposed for Glass-Epoxy composite. For this purpose, impact-echo is used to evaluate the properties of composite materials, detecting internal defects and thickness ...

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.

Challenges of Embedding Fiber Bragg Grating Sensors in Castable Material: Influence of Material Shrinkage and Fiber Coatings on Ultrasonic Measurements

open access: yesSensors
Fiber optic sensors are increasingly used to measure dynamic strain fields caused by the propagation of mechanical waves. Their low intrusiveness when embedded within a structure makes them suitable for a wide range of applications.

Association of Corticospinal Tract Asymmetry With Ambulatory Ability After Intracerebral Hemorrhage

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Ambulatory ability after intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is important to patients. We tested whether asymmetry between ipsi‐ and contra‐lesional corticospinal tracts (CSTs) assessed by diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is associated with post‐ICH ambulation.

A Qualitative Analysis of Patient Perspectives and Preferences in Lupus Management to Guide Lupus Guidelines Development

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective A patient‐centered approach for chronic disease management, including systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), aligns treatment with patients’ values and preferences, leading to improved outcomes. This paper summarizes how patient experiences, perspectives, and priorities informed the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) 2024 Lupus Nephritis (LN)
