A non-destructive method for estimating onion leaf area

open access: yesIrish Journal of Agricultural and Food Research, 2015
Leaf area is one of the most important parameters for characterizing crop growth and development, and its measurement is useful for examining the effects of agronomic management on crop production.

PENENTUAN KUALITAS BUAH NAGA (Hylocereus undatus) DENGAN METODE NON-DESTRUKTIF [Non-destructive Determination of Dragon Fruit (Hylocereus undatus) Quality]

open access: yesJurnal Teknologi & Industri Hasil Pertanian, 2018
Sorting dragon fruit based on color, size, and physical defects using human senses does not adequately reflect the nutritional content of the fruit.  Nutrient content in dragon fruit has been determined by injuring fruit (destructive).

DEVELOPMENT OF A NON-DESTRUCTIVE METHOD FOR DETERMINATION OF pH OF PAPER ARTIFACTS USING DIFFUSE REFLECTANCE SPECTROSCOPY AND REGRESSION ANALYSIS

open access: yesStudia Universitatis Babes-Bolyai Chemia, 2021
One of the most important factors that influence the quality and resistance to chemical and microorganism degradation of paper, historical artifacts and art works is pH. Despite the simplicity of electrochemical devices that are mostly used nowadays for

Leaf area estimation for Psychotria carthagenensis and Psychotria hoffmannseggiana as a function of linear leaf dimensions

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Biological Sciences, 2019
Determining leaf area is important for studies involving plant growth and development. The aim of the present study was to obtain models for estimating leaf area of Psychotria carthagenensis and Psychotria hoffmannseggiana using linear measurements of ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Non-Destructive Removal of Dental Implant by Using the Cryogenic Method

open access: yesMedicina, 2022
Background and Objectives: The gold standard for a successful prosthetic approach is the osseointegration of an implant. However, this integration can be a problem in cases where the implant needs to be removed.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Comparative evaluation regarding the efficiency of the methodologies used for determining the compressive strength of concrete: standard (destructive) method vs. non-destructive method [PDF]

open access: yesConstructii: Journal of Civil Engineering Research, 2019
Determining the concrete compressive strength is an important issue for both existing and new constructions. Existing constructions, subject to retrofit and / or extension, require the determination of concrete compressive strength in specific elements ...
