Mitigating Strain Localization via Stabilized Phase Boundaries for Strengthening Multi‐Principal Element Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Strain localization along phase or grain boundaries leads to crack initiation typical of alloys. In multi‐principal element alloys, the enamel‐like microstructure is stabilized by phase boundaries. This facilitates trans‐phase migration of semi‐atomic surfaces and provides sufficient plastic space for dislocation‐mediated deformation.

DNA–Protein Binding is Dominated by Short Anchoring Elements

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study delineate the binding mechanism of transcription factors (TFs) in the genome with the knowledge obtained at thermodynamic equilibrium conditions. Through KaScape experiments, combined with the AEEscape algorithm development, they identified the minimal dominant interacting elements, termed as Anchoring Elements (AEs).

High‐Speed 3D Printing Coupled with Machine Learning to Accelerate Alloy Development for Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work shows combining high‐throughput experiments of metal 3D printing with data science‐driven prediction leads to faster alloy development. Researchers develop steel alloy specimens specifically for 3D printing by adjusting aluminum content (0–10 wt.%) and energy input during printing.

Laser Ultrafast Confined Alloying of Sub‐5 nm RuM (M = Cu, Rh, and Pd) Particles on Carbon Nanotubes for Hydrogen Evolution Reaction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this work, the synthesis of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) supported sub‐5 nm dominant intermetallic RuCu, RuRh, and RuPd NPs are succeeded by the proposed method of nanosecond laser ultrafast confined alloying (LUCA), which is featured by its unique ultrafast heating and cooling rates and high stability for long‐term alkaline HER catalysis application ...

Dynamic Ionic Environment Modulation for Precise Electrosynthesis of Heterostructured Bimetallic Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An electrosynthesis method is introduced for fabricating heterostructured bimetallic nanoparticles, providing precise and independent control over elemental distribution within individual nanostructures. By dynamically modulating the ionic environment in a dual‐channel nanopipette using scanning electrochemical cell microscopy, core–shell nanoparticles
