Numerical simulation of IL-8-based relative inflammation potentials of aerosol particles from vehicle exhaust and non-exhaust emission sources in Japan

open access: yesAtmospheric Environment: X
Spatial distributions of interleukin-8 (IL-8)-based relative inflammation potentials (IP) of PM2.5 from vehicle exhaust and non-exhaust emission sources in Japan are derived using the meteorology–chemistry model (NHM-Chem) and laboratory experiments.

nà-Cleft (non-)exhaustivity: Variability in Akan

open access: yesGlossa: a journal of general linguistics, 2021
This paper presents two experimental studies on the exhaustive inference associated with focus-background nà-clefts in Akan (among others, Boadi 1974; Duah 2015; Grubic, Renans & Duah 2019; Titov 2019), with a direct comparison to two recent experiments on German es-clefts employing an identical design (De Veaugh-Geiss et al. 2018). Despite the

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

An Alternative Numerical Model for Investigating Three- Dimensional Steam Turbine Exhaust Hood

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2020
A proper design of exhaust hood geometry is very much essential in order to improve the overall efficiency of the steam turbine plant. The geometry of the non-axisymmetric exhaust hood makes the fluid flow at the exit of the steam turbine to be radially ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

STUDY ON STRUCTURE INFLUENCE FACTOR OF DIESEL ENGINE EXHAUST MANIFOLD THERMAL LOAD

open access: yesJixie qiangdu, 2016
Exhaust manifold is a main heated component of engine, which has poor working conditions. High levels of thermal load can lead to deformation even cracking, which affect its normal working and reliability and durability.

Non-Exhaust Particulate Emissions from Road Transport Vehicles

open access: yesEnergies
As part of the Zero Pollution Action Plan of the Green Deal, the European Commission has set the goal of reducing the number of premature deaths caused by fine particulate matter (PM2.5) by at least 55% by 2030, compared to 2005 levels.

Phycoremediation of automobile exhaust gases using green microalgae: a twofold advantage for pollutant removal and concurrent biomass/lipid yields

open access: yesSustainable Environment Research, 2020
In the present study, an effort has been made to sequester automobile exhaust gases from a petroleum based engine using microalgae Scenedesmus quadricauda. The automobile selected for the present study was a two wheeler motorcycle. S.
