Atmospheric Concentration of Particulate Air Pollutants in the Context of Projected Future Emissions from Motor Vehicles

open access: yesAtmosphere
Ambient PM concentrations are influenced by various emission sources and weather conditions such as temperature, wind speed, and direction. Measurements using optical sensors cannot directly link pollution levels to specific sources.

Variability of aerosol particle concentrations from tyre and brake wear emissions in an urban area

open access: yesAtmospheric Environment: X
Air pollution is a risk to human health, especially in urban areas. While exhaust emissions from road traffic have decreased over the last decades, non-exhaust emissions remain and tend to increase.

Non-Exhaust PM Emissions from Heavy-Duty Vehicles

open access: yes, 2021
The important technological improvements have been made for reducing particulate matter (PM) emissions from exhaust sources, but no actions are currently in place to reduce the non-exhaust part of emissions such as those from brake wear, road wear, tyre wear and road dust resuspension. In the future these emissions will become increasingly important in

Monolithic Oxidation Enables Ultrathin Vertically Graded Tantalum Oxide for Low‐Voltage, Low‐Variability Memristive Switching

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Monolithic UV‐ozone oxidation of Ta forms an ultrathin Ta2O5/TaOx bilayer enabling resistive switching with a vertical defect gradient. A stoichiometric surface layer over an oxygen‐deficient sublayer promotes localized filament nucleation near the top interface, enabling low‐voltage operation, and reduced cycle‐to‐cycle variability.

Functionalizing Micro‐to‐Mesoscopic Electrode Architectures for Regulating Electron Transfer Behaviors in Electrocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A systematic review is conducted to assess the influence of electrode architecture across micro‐ to mesoscopic length scales on electron‐transfer pathways in electrocatalysis. We discuss the structure‐activity relationships in electrocatalytic applications, including resource recovery and environmental remediation, and provide cost‐effective, efficient

From real-driving emissions to urban air quality: composition of aged PM from modern diesel, gasoline, and CNG fueled cars and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles

open access: yesAtmospheric Environment: X
Secondary aerosol emissions from vehicle exhaust often surpass primary particle emissions, yet they are not currently regulated, as they remain difficult to constrain.

Two Coexisting Pathways to Volatility in Valence‐Change Memory Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Volatile VCM‐type memristive devices exhibit current relaxation after resistive switching, but their microscopic origin remains debated. Using pulsed measurements and a new Tunnel‐DLTS approach on Pt/SrTiO3/Nb:SrTiO3 devices, we show that post‐SET volatility is predominantly ionic, while electronic contributions—arising from quasi‐Fermi‐level ...
