Quantification of Ethanedinitrile in Air Using a New and Accurate Gas Chromatography Method
Compared to previously tested fumigants such as methyl bromide, sulfuryl fluoride and phosphine; ethanedinitrile (EDN) is a new fumigant which is being trialled around the world as a pre-plant soil treatment and as a quarantine and pre-shipment (QPS ...

Isolates of the Nematophagous Fungus Pochonia chlamydosporia Are Endophytic in Banana Roots and Promote Plant Growth [PDF]
The biocontrol fungus Pochonia chlamydosporia colonizes banana roots endophytically. Root hairs and root surface were colonized by a stable GFP (green fluorescent protein) transformant of the fungus.

ABSTRACT Background: Soil quality can be measured through soil quality indicators that reflect soil processes. Aim: The aim of this study was to (1) identify a limited set of soil quality indicators that are most sensitive to agricultural soil management and that are widely applicable regardless of pedo‐climatic conditions, and (2) link common ...

Control of Meloidogyne incognita in sweetpotato with fluensulfone
In California, sweetpotato is mostly grown on light sandy soils in Merced County. Root-knot nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.) can reduce sweetpotato yields and quality. Fluensulfone is the active ingredient of the new non-fumigant nematicide Nimitz.

Effects of Biochar and Maize Roots on CO2 Emissions and Microbial Biomass C in Loess Soils
ABSTRACT Background Refractory substances such as biochar and labile substances such as dead fine and coarse roots play important roles in soil organic matter dynamics and have key ecological functions. However, interactions between these substances have only rarely been studied.

Germplasm identification of bean ( Phaseolus vulgaris L.) and lettuce ( Lactuca sativa L.) resistant to avirulent populations of Meloidogyne spp. to Mi gene [PDF]
Phytoparasitic nematodes of the genus Meloidogyne spp. are the cause of important losses in horticulture. In recent years, plant resistance has been used to reduce this damage in a sustainable way.

Accelerated Microbial Degradation of Nematicides in Vineyard and Orchard Soils [PDF]
Accelerated microbial degradation (AMD) of organophosphate and carbamate nematicides is aphenomenon whereby biodegradation in the soil is increased, leading to a dramatically shortenedpersistence of nematicides.

ABSTRACT Soil degradation compromises ecosystem functioning. Biochar, a carbon‐rich amendment, has gained attention as a promising strategy to enhance soil structure and restore microbial balance. This study investigated the effects of two biochars, cashew bagasse biochar (CBB) and a co‐pyrolyzed biochar produced from sewage sludge and cashew pruning ...
