Evaluation of non governmental organizations(NGO's) borrowing strategies from banks in Kenya

open access: yes, 2010
The study was conducted in the months of January and February 2009 in Nairobi. There are about five thousand, five hundred registered NGOs in Kenya that operate under the regulation and supervision of the NGO council of Kenya, registered under the NGO coordination Act of 1990. The NGOs areas of operation are different but are all on provision of social

Bioprinted Tumor Microenvironment Models Reveal Immune Evasion and Guide CAR‐NK Therapeutic Strategies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a 3D embedded bioprinting platform that recapitulates key stromal features of the tumor microenvironment using fibroblasts and lung‐derived ECM. The model enables functional assessment of CAR‐NK cells and provides a versatile tool to support the development of next‐generation immunotherapeutic strategies against solid tumors ...

A Circuit of Mechanically Regulated Transcription Factors Balances Regenerative and Fibrotic Memory of Mesenchymal Stromal Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Producing MSCs on rigid culture substrates induces a scar‐making phenotype, jeapordizing therapeutic success. ‘Tissue‐soft’ surfaces prevent MSC fibrogenesis and preserve regenerative traits. An epigenetic network, driven by HOXA11 and SALL1, maintains ‘soft memory’ by keeping chromatin open in relaxed MSCs, promoting anti‐fibrotic programs.

Traction Force Microscopy for Viscoelastic Substrates: A Semi‐Analytical Method

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A semi‐analytical viscoelastic traction force microscopy framework is introduced for quantifying time‐resolved cell tractions on flat finite‐thickness substrates. The method generalizes elastic traction force microscopy to Generalized Maxwell materials, identifies when elastic approximations remain valid and, when they do not, shows that inferred ...

Highly Flexible and Conformable ZnO/FeGa Magnetoelectric Heterostructures for Skin wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The magnetic field‐induced electric field generated by a highly flexile ZnO(piezoelectric)/FeGa(magnetostrictive) magnetoelectric heterostructure embedded in the low Young's modulus elastomer PDMS has been used to stimulate the wound healing processes.

A mobile application to assist Non - Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in effective mornitoring and evaluation of projects in Kenya

open access: yes, 2016
Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) are constantly in the process of reviewing ways in which monitoring and evaluation can achieve greater consistency and effectiveness in judging the impact of a project as well as getting recommendations on how future interventions can be improved.

Oral Motion‐Powered Smart Dental Implant Abutment for In Situ Antibacterial and Cell Adhesion Through Piezoelectric Effect

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We proposed a method based on the piezoelectric effect and fabricated an implant abutment on the basis of piezoelectric ceramic. Under physiological occlusal pressure, the oral motion‐powered smart dental implant abutments interacted with water and oxygen, promoting the formation of reactive oxygen species and achieving a synergistic and highly ...
