Attention is being directed at increasing the intensity of therapy as a means of improving the results of primary therapy for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. There is increasing evidence that the use of high-dose consolidation therapy followed by autologous hematopoietic rescue in first remission improves survival in high-risk patients.
