Charged Scalar Boson in Melvin Universe

open access: yesUniverse
This work investigates the dynamics of a charged scalar boson in the Melvin universe by solving the Klein–Gordon equation with minimal coupling in both inertial and non-inertial frames.

Transfer Printing and Reconfiguration of Soft Electronics Using Digital Microfluidics and Laser Machining

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This paper presents a digital microfluidics‐based technique for transferring and reconfiguring soft nanomembranes. Laser‐machined nanothin membranes are picked up, transported, and aligned via tailored surface tension and the actuation of water droplets, enabling the development of flexible electronics, the integration of functional materials on 3D ...

Attitude Heading Reference System Using MEMS Inertial Sensors with Dual-Axis Rotation

open access: yesSensors, 2014
This paper proposes a low cost and small size attitude and heading reference system based on MEMS inertial sensors. A dual-axis rotation structure with a proper rotary scheme according to the design principles is applied in the system to compensate for ...

Using Lagrangian Filtering to Remove Waves From the Ocean Surface Velocity Field

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, 2023
The Surface Water and Ocean Topography satellite will measure altimetry on scales down to about 15 km: at these scales, the sea‐surface‐height signature of inertia‐gravity waves, including barotropic tides and internal tides, will be visible.

Near‐Infrared Light‐Driven Zn/Au Janus Micromotors for Multiplex SERS Detection of Anticancer Drugs

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Zn/Au Janus micromotors, propelled by thermophoretic effects under NIR light, function as active SERS platforms for single and multiplex detection of anticancer drugs. Their dynamic motion enhances analyte exchange at the Au interface, reducing saturation and competitive adsorption, thereby improving sensitivity and extending the linear detection range.

Lacunae in the philosophical foundations of special relativity

open access: yesOpen Astronomy
Based on the two postulates of the invariance of both the laws of physics and light speed in inertial frames, Einstein revolutionised the prevalent conceptions of space and time in the Special Theory of Relativity, which is not however without ...

Two-fluid equations for two-phase flows in moving systems

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2019
Recently, ocean nuclear reactors have received attention due to enhanced safety features. The movable and transportable characteristics distinguish ocean nuclear reactors from land-based nuclear reactors.

Controlled Engineering of 2D Alkali‐Iron‐Chloride Compounds and Lateral Quantum Heterostructures Within Confined Graphene Nanoreactors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a programmable atomic engineering strategy for 2D materials using Å‐scale nanoreactors formed by bilayer graphene (BLG) intercalation. A new class of alkali‐iron‐chloride compounds, along with lateral heterostructures composed of monolayer alkali halides and iron chlorides, is revealed.

Conformal Metallosaccharide Hybrid Films for Protecting Wood Surfaces From Environmental Damage

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ti‐ribose hybrid films fabricated by molecular layer deposition form a conformal and uniform coating on wood surfaces, which provides water repellence, dimensional stability, and resistance to acidic and alkaline environments, while preserving the natural appearance.

Coriolis force induced topological order for classical mechanical vibrations

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2015
We show that topological order and vibrational edge modes can exist in a classical mechanical system consisting of a two-dimensional honeycomb lattice of masses and springs.
