A non-intrusive checkpointing protocol
Eighth Annual International Phoenix Conference on Computers and Communications. 1989 Conference Proceedings, 2003The authors address the problem of global consistency of a loosely coupled system of processes in the presence of failures. In particular, they present a checkpointing protocol that guarantees the existence of a globally consistent state from which the system can be restarted if and when process failures occur.

Non-Intrusive Engine Speed Sensor
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2007<div class="htmlview paragraph">In the field of vehicle diagnostics accurate instantaneous engine speed information enables the detection and diagnosis of many engine problems, even subtle ones. Currently, there is a limited choice in the ways of obtaining such information.

Evolving Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring
2013Non-intrusive load monitoring (NILM) identifies used appliances in a total power load according to their individual load characteristics. In this paper we propose an evolutionary optimization algorithm to identify appliances, which are modeled as on/off appliances.

Non-intrusive tongue machine interface
Proceedings of the SIGCHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems, 2014There has been recent interest in designing systems that use the tongue as an input interface. Prior work however either require surgical procedures or in-mouth sensor placements. In this paper, we introduce TongueSee, a non-intrusive tongue machine interface that can recognize a rich set of tongue gestures using electromyography (EMG) signals from the

Toward non-intrusive motion capture
1997Shape-from-silhouettes, a simple approach to 3D shape understanding, can also be used for recovering posture and motion of human bodies. Silhouettes are easy to obtain from intensity images, do not require foreign objects attached to the subject, can directly provide a 3-D reconstruction of the body, or drive model-based motion capture.

NON-INTRUSIVE WIRELESS SENSING WITH MACHINE LEARNING
2023This dissertation explores the world of non-intrusive wireless sensing for diet and fitness activity monitoring, in addition to assessing security risks in human activity recognition (HAR). It delves into the use of WiFi and millimeter wave (mmWave) signals for monitoring eating behaviors, discerning intricate eating activities, and observing fitness ...

Non-Intrusive Media Forensics Framework
2012Abstract : In recent years, the availability of high-quality digital cameras and audio recording devices coupled with the rise of the Internet as a means of information delivery has cause digital content to become prevalent throughout society. Many governmental, legal, scientific, and news media organizations rely on digital multimedia content to make ...

Adaptive non-intrusive terahertz identification
SPIE Proceedings, 2006In the recent years, multifarious devices, systems and applications working in the THz frequency domain have been brought to life. Many of them are meant for security and military purposes, such as non-invasive detection of explosives, weapons, biological and chemical agents, etc. The problem, however, is not only with the detection and ever-increasing
