Predictors of non-invasive ventilation tolerance in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
Journal of the Neurological Sciences, 2011The most frequent cause of death in patients with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is respiratory failure. Recently, it has been shown that non-invasive ventilation improves survival and quality of life in ALS patients with respiratory failure, but little is known about predictors of non-invasive ventilation adaptation and tolerance.

Non-invasive predictors of the presence of large oesophageal varices in patients with cirrhosis
Digestive and Liver Disease, 2003The usual clinical practice is to screen all patients with established cirrhosis at the time of diagnosis by upper endoscopy for the presence of varices. Patients with large varices should be treated with non-selective beta blockers to reduce the incidence of first variceal bleeding.

Salivary cytokine — A non-invasive predictor for bronchopulmonary dysplasia in premature neonates
Cytokine, 2021To find a less invasive method of cytokine detection for premature neonates, we conducted this cohort study to investigate the salivary cytokines and to analyze their correlations with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD).Premature neonates younger than 34 weeks of gestational age without maternal or neonatal infection were recruited. Salivary samples were

Evaluation of ALBI, MELD and Child-Pugh Scores as non-Invasive Predictors of Esophageal Varices
The Egyptian Journal of Hospital Medicine, 2018Background: the prevalence of esophageal varices (OV) in newly diagnosed cirrhotic patients is approximately 60-80% and the 1-year rate of first variceal bleeding is approximately 5% for small esophageal varices & 15% for large esophageal varices.

Plasma lipid peroxidation biomarkers for early and non‐invasive Alzheimer Disease detection
Free Radical Biology & Medicine, 2018Introduction Alzheimer Disease (AD) standard diagnosis is based on evaluations and biomarkers that are non‐specific, expensive, or requires invasive sampling. Therefore, an early, and non‐invasive diagnosis is required.

Fontan palliation patients are at risk for atrial arrhythmias post-operatively. This study aimed to evaluate whether differences in depolarization vector magnitude or spatial P-R angle can reliably predict atrial arrhythmias in patients who had undergone Fontan palliation.A total of 115 patients who had Fontan palliation and post-Fontan catheterization

Non-Invasive Predictors of Short and Long-Term Survival in Dilated Cardiomyopathy
Angiology, 1984Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) carries a poor prognosis. This study exam ined the non-invasive parameters that may be predictive of survival in two groups of patients, short-term survivors who died within one year of onset of symptoms (Group I, 6 patients) and long-term survivors who survived greater than one year of presentation (Group II, 16 patients).
