Adaptive-optics compensation by distributed beacons for non-Kolmogorov turbulence

Applied Optics, 2001
In optical propagation through atmospheric turbulence, the performance of compensation with adaptive optics depends on a beacon's spatial distribution. With distributed beacons, the inefficiency of the modal correction, which is defined as the ratio of the anisoplanatic error of the jth mode and the Zernike-coefficient variance, is derived by use of ...

Average spreading of a Gaussian beam array in non-Kolmogorov turbulence

Optics Letters, 2010
By using the rms beam width as the parameter to characterize the spreading property, the average spreading of Gaussian beam array propagates in non-Kolmogorov turbulence is studied. Numerical examples reveal that the beam width depends on the exponent value alpha, and the beam width in non-Kolmogorov turbulence is different from that in Kolmogorov ...

Annular beam scintillations in non-Kolmogorov weak turbulence

Applied Physics B, 2012
In a weakly turbulent atmosphere governed by the non-Kolmogorov spectrum, the on-axis scintillation index is formulated and evaluated when the incidence is an annular Gaussian type. When the power law of the non-Kolmogorov spectrum is varied, the scintillation index first increases, and reaches a peak value, then starts to decrease, and eventually ...

Scintillations of higher-order laser beams in non-Kolmogorov medium

Optics Letters, 2014
In an atmospheric medium that shows a non-Kolmogorov turbulence behavior, the variation of the on-axis scintillation index is evaluated when higher-order laser modes are used as the excitation. The Rytov method is employed together with the equivalent structure constant, which makes our results valid in weak turbulence.
