Scintillation index of optical plane wave propagating through non Kolmogorov moderate-strong turbulence [PDF]
An optical plane wave propagating through atmospheric turbulence is affected by irradiance fluctuations known as scintillation. The scintillation index of an optical wave in strong turbulence can be analyzed by extended Rytov theory, which uses filter ...

Average transmittance in non-Kolmogorov turbulence
Abstract Average transmittance in non-Kolmogorov turbulence is evaluated. Our recently published equivalent structure constant formulation is employed in our numerical evaluations. At the fixed propagation distance and wavelength, and at the corresponding equivalent structure constant, as the power law exponent of the non-Kolmogorov spectrum ...

Generalized wavefront phase for non-Kolmogorov turbulence
We introduce the Lévy fractional Brownian field family to model the turbulent wavefront phase. This generalized model allows us to overcome the limitations found in a previous approach [Perez et al., J. Opt. Soc. Am. A 21, 1962 (2004)]. More precisely, our new model provides stationary phase increments over the full inertial range. Thus it successfully

Invariant forms and control dimensional parameters in complexity quantification
Non-equilibrium dynamics is omnipresent in nature and technology and can exhibit symmetries and order. In idealistic systems this universality is well-captured by traditional models of dynamical systems. Realistic processes are often more complex.

Galactic Magnetic Turbulence from Radio data [PDF]
Fluctuations in the Galactic synchrotron emission can be traced by the angular power spectrum of radio maps at low multipoles. At frequencies below few GHz, large-scale anisotropies are mainly induced by magnetic field turbulence.

Synthetic turbulence prediction in non-Kolmogorov turbulence
We use Kinematic Simulation to assess the role of sweeping in the theory of Richardson for particle pair dispersion. We use different spectral laws to show the particular case of Kolmogorov spectrum. KS shows good consistency with Richardson's locality assumption for a large range of spectral laws (1.15 ≤ p ≤ 1.96).

Oceanic non-Kolmogorov optical turbulence and spherical wave propagation
Light propagation in turbulent media is conventionally studied with the help of the spatio-temporal power spectra of the refractive index fluctuations. In particular, for natural water turbulence several models for the spatial power spectra have been developed based on the classic, Kolmogorov postulates.
