ABSTRACT Objectives To identify predictors of chronic ITP (cITP) and to develop a model based on several machine learning (ML) methods to estimate the individual risk of chronicity at the timepoint of diagnosis. Methods We analyzed a longitudinal cohort of 944 children enrolled in the Intercontinental Cooperative immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) Study ...

The roles of predictors in cardiovascular risk models - a question of modeling culture?
Background While machine learning (ML) algorithms may predict cardiovascular outcomes more accurately than statistical models, their result is usually not representable by a transparent formula.

ABSTRACT Introduction Neuroblastoma (NB) with central nervous system (CNS) metastases is rare at diagnosis, but occurs more often during relapse/progression. Patients with CNS metastases face a dismal prognosis, with no standardized curative treatment available.

Pathogenic Germline PALB2 and RAD50 Variants in Patients With Relapsed Ewing Sarcoma
ABSTRACT Approximately 10% of patients with Ewing sarcoma (EwS) have pathogenic germline variants. Here, we report two cases: first, a novel germline pathogenic variant in partner and localizer of BRCA2 (PALB2) in a patient with a late EwS relapse. Its impact on homologous recombination is demonstrated, and breast cancer risk is discussed.

ABSTRACT Background Despite their increased risk for functional impairment resulting from cancer and its treatments, few adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with a hematological malignancy receive the recommended or therapeutic dose of exercise per week during inpatient hospitalizations.

Parity-time symmetry with coherent atomic gases
In standard quantum theory, the Hamiltonian describing a physical system is assumed to be Hermitian in order to guarantee the energy spectrum to be real and the time evolution to be unitary.

Non-linear dielectric effect in the isotropic phase above the isotropic-cholesteric phase transition
Using the Landau-de Gennes theory, the temperature, pressure and frequency dependence of the non-linear effect in the isotropic phase above the isotropic-cholesteric phase transition is calculated.

Investigating the effect of the middle soft layer on the equivalent-linear and non-linear dynamic site responses [PDF]
In this paper, the effect of the middle soft soil layer on the seismic response of a multi-layered site is investigated with the help of one-dimensional equivalent-linear and non-linear analysis methods.

Non-Linear Realization of ${\aleph_0}$-Extended Supersymmetry
As generalizations of the original Volkov-Akulov action in four-dimensions, actions are found for all space-time dimensions D invariant under N non-linear realized global supersymmetries.
