Voltage sag compensation on non-linear loads

2003 IEEE Bologna Power Tech Conference Proceedings,, 2004
Short duration voltage disturbances like voltage sags are receiving much attention, since they are very common. Voltage sags are characterized by short duration; nevertheless they can result in the shut down of an industrial process or in the maloperation of the control system of devices like AC-DC converters.

Characterization of non-linear load behavior

Electric Power Systems Research, 2008
This paper studies the univocal characterization of non-linear load behavior from normalized parameters that are called invariants. The model of four non-linear loads (single- and three-phase uncontrolled rectifiers, six pulse rectifiers and discharge lamps) is analyzed to obtain their invariants by the normalization method.

Non-linear load compensation using STATCOM

2016 International Conference on Emerging Trends in Electrical Electronics & Sustainable Energy Systems (ICETEESES), 2016
In this paper, a dc voltage controller along with a decoupled current control has been presented for the compensation of non-linear load using FACTS device STATCOM which also secures the unity power factor (UPF) at the point of common coupling. The STATCOM is employed with a three phase voltage source inverter (VSI) and dc capacitor.

Interaction between non‐linear loads and synchronous generators

European Transactions on Electrical Power, 1992
AbstractIn this paper the problem of the interaction between synchronous generator and non‐linear load is considered. The problem taken into account is the determination of voltage and current waveforms as well as the calculation methodologies related to it. The following paper ends with a relative numerical application.

Load-Rate Sensitivity in 1D Non-Linear Viscoelastic Model

Key Engineering Materials, 2011
Load-rate sensitivity of material is important in impact and other dynamic loadings. It is assumed that the strain-rate sensitivity is not a material property but comes out naturally from dynamic equilibrium equations. Material is assumed non-linear, similar as used in the microplane model for quasi-brittle materials, and viscoelastic arranged into ...

Simulation of non-linear loads for harmonic studies

11th International Conference on Electrical Power Quality and Utilisation, 2011
Recently, more attention is given to harmonic assessment of nonlinear loads due to the penetration of such devices on power systems which cause detrimental effects to the power system and other users. In order to quantify these distortions precisely, two commonly used topologies for implementation in Personal Computers (PCs) are modeled and accurately ...

Power quality control of unregulated non-linear loads

2010 International Conference on Power, Control and Embedded Systems, 2010
Increasing non-linear loads cause various undesirable effects and power quality problems on utility supply, like low system efficiency, poor power factor, derating of power supply equipments, disturbance to other consumers and interference in nearby communications networks etc.
