Non-Linear Behavior of Spherical Shells under Static Ring Loads
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2016The present study investigates the non-linear behavior of spherical shells under the influence of static circular ring loads. It is assumed that the material is isotropic and linearly elastic. The differential equations comprising the equilibrium equations, constitutive laws and kinematic equations are converted into non-linear algebraic equations by ...

Geometric Non Linear Analysis of Composite Shells Under Thermomechanical Load
Applied Mechanics, 2004Geometric nonlinear analysis of composite shells under thermomechanical load is reported here. From the literature, it may be seen that the thermal stress analysis of structural elements has continued to remain a research topic for a couple of decades.

Non Linear Modelling of Masonry Structures Under Cyclic Loads
2008A continuum damage model for historical masonry, able to describe its non-linear behaviour under both static and dynamic cyclic loads, is presented. The model is based on a micromechanical approach. The hypothesis of plane stress is considered. The finite element method is adopted as a framework for numerical implementation.

Short term load forecasting using non-linear template matching
IEEE Africon '11, 2011Accurate short term load forecasting plays a very important role in power system management. As electrical load data is highly non-linear in nature, in the proposed approach, we first use a Reproducing Kernel Hilbert Space (RKHS) method to fit the data.

Non-linear analysis of vertically loaded piled rafts
Computers and Geotechnics, 2015Abstract While the availability of 3D FEM or FDM analyses has greatly contributed to the increasing use of piled rafts for high rise structures, there is a need in industry for practical analysis methods which would also allow the adoption of piled rafts for more ordinary structures.

Load Incrementation in a Non-linear Analysis
2014A structure can be loaded by a number of loads of different type. We restrict ourselves to force-type loads such as forces, moments and distributed loads like line and surface loads, e.g. pressure. The reference loads contained in the vector f 0 ext can be increased proportionally.

Failure analysis of container stacks by non-linear FE simulations under non-linear inertial loads
2015In this paper a specific procedure for the structural assessment of a container stack is implemented to a realistic case in order to evaluate its effectiveness in the prediction of the operational limits of a container vessel. The feasibility of an extensive calculation based on such procedure is tested, paving the way to the direct analysis of a ...

Non-linear 3D piping analysis under stochastic dynamic loads
Nuclear Engineering and Design, 1991Abstract A new analytical method is presented for non-linear 3D piping systems subjected to stochastic dynamic loadings. First, the paper describes the development of an empirical formulation for the strength and deformation characteristics of piping systems based on a detailed finite-element shell analysis of various pipebends.

Autonomous Induction Generator Feeding Non-linear and Unbalanced Loads
2018 IEEE Biennial Congress of Argentina (ARGENCON), 2018Is propose an excitation system for autonomous induction generators that feeds non-linear and unbalanced loads. The generator is composed of an induction machine (IM) of the squirrel cage type, the excitation system has a capacitor bank and a four-wire converter connected in parallel with the IM.

Buckling load of non-linear systems with multiple eigenvalues
International Journal of Solids and Structures, 1974Abstract For structural systems with a coincident lowest eigenvalue λ c , the influence of imperfections on the buckling of the systems depends to a very large extent upon the distribution of the imperfections. Moreover, the system may buckle either at a limit point or at a bifurcation point before this limit point is reached.
