Parallel non-linear algorithms

Computer Physics Communications, 1982
Since 1950 the development of modern Numerical Analysis methods has been influenced primarily by the architecture of the currently available digital computers. Whereas the original concept was that of the von Neumann computer (uniprocessor system), we can see today the emergence of true multiprocessor systems — affected above all by the rapid progress ...

Non-linear Acceleration

1987
In this programme, we shall investigate problems of bodies which move under the direction of a force which is not constant. Also, we shall examine the problem of a body propelled by a constant force, but having a variable mass, such as a rocket. Remember the four equations of linear motion in Programme 1: $$ x = \tfrac{1}{2}\left( {{v_0} + v ...

Solving non-linear arithmetic

ACM Communications in Computer Algebra, 2012
We propose a new decision procedure for the existential theory of the reals. It performs a backtracking search for a model in R, where the backtracking is powered by a novel conflict resolution procedure based on cylindrical algebraic decomposition. The initial experimental results are very encouraging.

(Non) linear regression modeling [PDF]

open access: possible, 2004
We will study causal relationships of a known form between random variables. Given a model, we distinguish one or more dependent (endogenous) variables Y = (Y1,…,Yl), l ∈ N, which are explained by a model, and independent (exogenous, explanatory) variables X = (X1,…,Xp),p ∈ N, which explain or predict the dependent variables by means of the model. Such

Non-Linear Field Theories

Physical Review, 1949
This is the first paper in a program concerned with the quantization of field theories which are covariant with respect to general coordinate transformations, like the general theory of relativity. All these theories share the property that the existence and form of the equations of motion is a direct consequence of the covariant character of the ...

Non-linear superposition in non-linear evolution equations

Czechoslovak Journal of Physics, 1987
Special non-linear evolution equations are discussed and classified in integrable and non-integrable partial differential equations. Important methods of solution are sketched. An interesting task is the calculation of the so-called superposition functions permitting to construct from a few known solutions whole chains of further solutions.
