Local non‐linear alignment for non‐linear dimensionality reduction
In manifold learning, alignment is performed with the objective of deriving the global low‐dimensional coordinates of input data from their local coordinates. In virtually all alignment processes, the relation between the local and global coordinates is designed intuitively, without mathematical deduction and detailed analysis.

Dialectics, Technoscience and Non-linearity
Our article aims to analyse the significance of dialectics for philosophical reflection on technology. Drawing on the philosophy of Hegel, this article first of all reconstructs the progressive artefactualisation of thought and action, by indicating the

Non-equilibrium thermodynamics beyond linearity: sliding friction
Nevertheless, sliding friction is frequent and it was the first irreversible process we were faced in the school, very rare effort has been aimed to develop its non-equilibrium thermodynamic theory if ever. The reason may be guessed as Coulomb’s (Amonton’

Infection-induced cascading failures – impact and mitigation
In the context of epidemic spreading, many intricate dynamical patterns can emerge due to the cooperation of different types of pathogens or the interaction between the disease spread and other failure propagation mechanism.

Phase Error Analysis and Correction for Crossed-Grating Phase-Shifting Profilometry
Crossed-grating phase-shifting profilometry (CGPSP) has great utility in three-dimensional shape measurement due to its ability to acquire horizontal and vertical phase maps in a single measurement.

1. The relation between osmotic gradient and rate of osmotic water flow has been measured in rabbit gall‐bladder by a gravimetric procedure and by a rapid method based on streaming potentials. Streaming potentials were directly proportional to gravimetrically measured water fluxes.2.

Health Literacy, Self‐Efficacy and Knowledge of Sickle Cell Disease Among Caregivers
ABSTRACT Background Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a hereditary blood disorder in which abnormal haemoglobin leads to severe anaemia, painful crises and organ failure. Caregivers’ health literacy (HL) – their ability to assess, understand and apply information, and interact with healthcare professionals – is crucial for managing children with SCD, yet ...
