Non-Locality in Electrodynamics

Foundations of Physics, 2001
We investigate the applicability of Hegerfeldts arguments on Quantum nonlocality in Quantum Electrodynamics following the work of Prigogine, Pronko, Petrosky, Ordonez and Karpov. We demonstrate the appearance of nonlocal effects at the level of quantum states. We show, however that the expectation values of some observables spread causally.

Non-local Sigma Filter

2015
This paper proposes a non-local modification of well-known sigma filter, Nonlocal Sigma filter (NSF), intended to suppress additive white Gaussian noise from images. Similarly to the Nonlocal Mean Filter (NLM), every output pixel value is computed as a nonlocal weighted average of pixels coming from similar patches to the patch around the current pixel.

Non-local Image Dehazing

2016 IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR), 2016
Haze limits visibility and reduces image contrast in outdoor images. The degradation is different for every pixel and depends on the distance of the scene point from the camera. This dependency is expressed in the transmission coefficients, that control the scene attenuation and amount of haze in every pixel.

“Non-locality”

2017
Quantum entanglement is popularly believed to give rise to spooky action at a distance of a kind that Einstein decisively rejected. Indeed, important recent experiments on systems assigned entangled states have been claimed to refute Einstein by exhibiting such spooky action. After reviewing two considerations in favor of this view I argue that quantum

Non‐Locality

2005
AbstractThis chapter examines several locality conditions. It argues that two of these principles are irreducibly causal: the principle that all causal propagation takes place at a finite velocity of which relativistic locality is a special case, and spatiotemporal locality, according to which no causal influences can be transmitted across ...
