Non-Markovian dynamics in ultracold Rydberg aggregates [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Physics B: Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics, 2016
We propose a setup of an open quantum system in which the environment can be tuned such that either Markovian or non-Markovian system dynamics can be achieved. The implementation uses ultracold Rydberg atoms, relying on their strong long-range interactions.

Markovian to non-Markovian phase transition in the operator dynamics of a mobile impurity

open access: yesSciPost Physics Core
We study a random unitary circuit model of an impurity moving through a chaotic medium. The exchange of information between the medium and impurity is controlled by varying the velocity of the impurity, $v_d$, relative to the speed of information ...

Quantum dynamics with non-Markovian fluctuating parameters [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2004
A stochastic approach to the quantum dynamics randomly modulated in time by a discrete state non-Markovian noise, which possesses an arbitrary non-exponential distribution of the residence times, is developed. The formally exact expression for the Laplace-transformed quantum propagator averaged over the stationary realizations of such N-state non ...

Non-Markovian dynamics of clusters during nucleation [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2009
Most theories of homogeneous nucleation are based on a Fokker-Planck-like description of the behavior of the mass of clusters. Here we will show that these approaches are incomplete for a large class of nucleating systems, as they assume the effective dynamics of the clusters to be Markovian, i.e., memoryless.

Pure non-Markovian evolutions [PDF]

open access: yesQuantum, 2023
Non-Markovian dynamics are characterized by information backflows, where the evolving open quantum system retrieves part of the information previously lost in the environment.

Interplay between Non-Markovianity of Noise and Dynamics in Quantum Systems

open access: yesEntropy, 2023
The non-Markovianity of open quantum system dynamics is often associated with the bidirectional interchange of information between the system and its environment, and it is thought to be a resource for various quantum information tasks.

Femtosecond non-Markovian optical dynamics in solution [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 1991
Femtosecond photon-echo experiments on sodium resorufin in dimethylsulfoxide at room temperature show that optical dephasing in solution is of non-Markovian character. A single Gauss-Markov stochastic modulation process is used to interpret both the femtosecond light-scattering results and the steady-state absorption spectrum.

Nonunital non-Markovianity of quantum dynamics [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review A, 2013
We show that Breuer-Laine-Piilo (BLP) non-Markovianity cannot capture the dynamical information in the non-unital aspect of the quantum dynamics. Moreover, we provide a measure on the effect of the non-unitality of quantum processes on the infinitesimal non-divisibility.

Tutorials on How to Build Non-Markovian Dynamic Models from Molecular Dynamics Simulations for Studying Protein Dynamics

open access: yes, 2023
Protein conformational changes play crucial roles in their biological functions. In recent years, the Markov State Model (MSM) constructed from extensive Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations has emerged as a powerful tool for modeling complex protein ...
