Non‐Native Species Abundance Decreases the Co‐Occurrence Between Native and Non‐Native Species Through Time at Any Phylogenetic Distance

open access: yes
International audienceNon-native species may cause cumulative impacts on native communities if their abundance continues to increase through time. This negative effect can reflect on the spatial distribution of native species, especially when native and ...

Upcycling Keratin‐Based Textile Waste Into High‐Performance Hybrid Fibers Via Tuning the Interfacial Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Keratin recovered from animal‐hair textile waste is fractionated and blended with cellulose to produce continuously spun hybrid fibers. Selecting the high‐molecular‐weight keratin fraction enables 30 wt.% keratin incorporation while maintaining high strength in dry and wet states.

Control of Phytophthora cinnamomi by the fungicide phosphite in relation to in planta phosphite concentrations and phytotoxicity in native plant species in Western Australia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Low volume aerial phosphite applications has been used in recent years at rates of up to 24 kg ha-1 to protect native plant species and communities threatened by Phytophthora cinnamomi while the recommended rate for spray to run-off phosphite application

Stereometric Molecular Engineering for Ultra‐Stable Aqueous Zinc‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Stereochemical configuration of molecular additives greatly influences interfacial adsorption at the Zn surface. The optimal tilted dual‐anchored adsorption geometry of myo‐inositol constructs a water‐deficient interface and regulates the solvation structure.

Optimizing NiMo Electrocatalyst Coatings for Hydrogen Evolution in Alkaline Electrolysis With The Machine Learning‐Guided Autonomous Platform CatBot

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a closed‐loop optimization workflow integrating CatBot, an automated synthesis and testing system, to discover NiMo hydrogen‐evolution catalysts. CatBot synthesised and evaluated 228 unique samples, identifying the best performing catalysts for transfer to nickel‐foam electrodes. The best candidate is highly active, reaching 1 Acm−2${

Composition, structural diversity, and regeneration patterns of tree species in the Kihamba agroforestry system

open access: yesTrees, Forests and People
Agroforestry systems in mountainous landscapes provide essential ecosystem services yet changes in overstory tree composition may threaten their structural integrity and long-term resilience.

Data from: Phenology in a warming world: differences between native and non-native plant species

open access: yes, 2019
Phenology is a harbinger of climate change, with many species advancing flowering in response to rising temperatures. However, there is tremendous variation among species in phenological response to warming, and any phenological differences between ...

Genetically Programmed Shape‐Morphing of Engineered Living Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, bacterial and mammalian engineered living materials (ELMs) are presented, in which living cells direct genetically programmed and enzymatically mediated shape‐morphing. The resulting deformation and shape‐recovery can be actuated in a genetically controlled manner by an ELM incorporating out‐of‐equilibrium counteracting biochemical reactions with
