Oscillatory motion of a spherical bubble in a non-Newtonian fluid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The motion of a spherical bubble in a nonlinear viscoelastic media subjected to an acoustic pressure field is considered. The ambient fluid is composed of a Newtonian liquid in which additives at small volume fraction are diluted. The contribution of the

A Smart Fluid‐Hydraulic System Based on MRF Valve Control and Its Application in Flexible Grasping

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces a smart fluid hydraulic system using MRF valve control for flexible gripping. An MRF‐MSV with an integrated excitation coil and micro‐textured damping channels is designed and validated; micro‐texturing increases hydraulic resistance. Coupled with a soft actuator, the MRF‐MSV enables dynamic bending and grasping.

Inkjet printing of non-Newtonian fluids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Jet breakup is strongly affected by fluid rheology. In particular, small amounts of polymer can cause substantially different breakup dynamics compared to a Newtonian jet, influencing in-flight fragmentation and detachment from the nozzle.

Continuous‐Flow Microfluidic Synthesis Enhances C2+ Selectivity for Cu2O Catalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microfluidic devices are used to prepare Cu2O nanoparticles under laminar flow conditions, which exhibit enhanced selectivity in the CO2‐to‐C2+ reaction due to their nanoporosity and high defect concentration. Cu2O prepared using standard solution methods displays decreased CO2‐to‐C2+ selectivity due to the absence of similar properties. Altogether, we

Yield stress fluids method to determine the pore size distribution of a porous medium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper a new method is presented in order to determine the pore size distribution in a porous medium. This original technique uses the rheological properties of some non-Newtonian yield stress fluids flowing through the porous sample.

Impact of fuzzy volume fraction on unsteady stagnation-point flow and heat transfer of a third-grade fuzzy hybrid nanofluid over a permeable shrinking/stretching sheet

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics
In current work, the unsteady stagnation point’s flow on a special third-grade fuzzy hybrid [Formula: see text] nanofluid (HNF) through a permeable convective shrinking/stretching sheet has been scrutinized.

From Flow to Function: Using Different Static Mixers to Fabricate Microarchitected Materials Via Chaotic Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Complex microarchitectures emerge from simple flow‐driven transformations as static mixers iteratively reorient and split material domains. Coupled with diverse deposition strategies, chaotic printing provides an accessible platform for fabricating architected materials that support biologically and chemically relevant processes. ABSTRACT Nature builds
