Microgel Aspect Ratio Influences Injectable Granular Hydrogel Scaffold Pore Structure and Cellular Invasion for Tissue Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Granular hydrogels are being developed for the repair of tissues, mostly with the use of spherical microgels. Here, injectable granular hydrogels formed from anisotropic particles (i.e., rod‐like) are explored to improve cellular invasion by increasing scaffold void volume fraction.

Homotopy Simulation of Non-Newtonian Spriggs Fluid Flow Over a Flat Plate with Oscillating Motion

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2019
An incompressible flow of a non-Newtonian Spriggs fluid over an unsteady oscillating plate is investigated using the Homotopy Analysis Method (HAM). An analytic solution of sine and cosine oscillations of the plate has been obtained.

Ultrathin, Unsinkable, Janus‐Faced Solar–Thermal Interfacial Evaporator for High‐Throughput Seawater Distillation and Solar‐Water Production

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A nanostructured carbon‐coated porous polymeric scaffold is developed to accelerate the hydrological cycle, enabling solar–thermal freshwater production from saline water with reduced energy consumption and CO2 footprint. Abstract Solar–thermal distillation offers immense and hitherto untapped potential for energy‐efficient, sustainable freshwater ...

Design Principles for Deployable Fibers Inspired by Hagfish Defense

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hagfish slime deploys fibers from coiled skeins to form an ultra‐dilute, water‐trapping network. Inspired by this mechanism, design principles are established for synthetic skeins, fabricated with tightly coiled fibers that unravel under flow. These synthetic skeins demonstrate deployable fibrous networks, highlighting generalizable strategies for ...

Non-stationary flow of viscoelastic fluid in a cylindrical pipe [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
The problems of non-stationary flow of a viscoelastic fluid in a cylindrical pipe under the influence of a constant pressure gradient are solved based on the generalized Maxwell model.

Unlocking Cryogenic Self‐Assembly of Lyotropic Liquid Crystals: A Molecular Perspective From Short‐Range to Long‐Range Scales

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cryogenic self‐assembly of lyotropic liquid crystals is achieved using alkyl alkanolamide amphiphiles in a 1,2‐propanediol/water cosolvent system. The hydrocarbon chain length significantly affects the molecular arrangement in bilayers and their long‐range orientational ordering.
