Requirements and Evaluation of Commercial Digital Light Processing 3D Printers for Upscaled Production of Microstructured Tissue Culture Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Commercial light‐based 3D printers increasingly find use for industry‐scale production of microstructured tissue culture devices. How can commercial printer performance be assessed for a given application? This work introduces simplified quantitative metrics based on microstructural fidelity analysis, addressing key manufacturing challenges in scaling ...

Melting of non-Newtonian phase change material in a finned triple-tube: Efficacy of non-uniform magnetic field

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2021
In this paper, a numerical study is presented on the melting process and heat transfer enhancement of a non-Newtonian phase change material (NPCM) in a double tube and a finned triple tube.

Effects of Electromagnetic Field on the Dynamical Instability of Cylindrical Collapse

open access: yes, 2012
The objective of this paper is to discuss the dynamical instability in the context of Newtonian and post Newtonian regimes. For this purpose, we consider non-viscous heat conducting charged isotropic fluid as a collapsing matter with cylindrical symmetry.

On some geometric features of the Kramer interior solution for a rotating perfect fluid [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Geometric features (including convexity properties) of an exact interior gravitational field due to a self-gravitating axisymmetric body of perfect fluid in stationary, rigid rotation are studied.

Lubrication with Non-Newtonian Fluids

open access: yesPhysical Review Applied, 2023
Hydrodynamic lubrication is studied for both shear thinning and viscoelastic polymer solutions. We find that elasticity, notably strong normal stresses, does not change the friction significantly for the range of parameters tested in this manuscript.

Development of SiC Nanocomposites Using Direct Ink Writing Process

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Herein, feedstock inks containing polycarbosilane and various concentrations of SiC nanoparticles (SiCnp) are investigated for fabricating ceramic matrix composites using a DIW 3D printing process. Characterization results from physical measurement, microstructure analysis, and thermal and flexural testing suggested that high‐performance CMC samples ...

Vibration Damping and Noise Reduction of a New Non-Newtonian Fluid Damper in a Washing Machine

open access: yesActuators, 2023
Due to friction vibration dampers’ inability to effectively dampen low loads during high-frequency dewatering, drum washing machines vibrated intensively.

Propulsion in a viscoelastic fluid

open access: yes, 2007
Flagella beating in complex fluids are significantly influenced by viscoelastic stresses. Relevant examples include the ciliary transport of respiratory airway mucus and the motion of spermatozoa in the mucus-filled female reproductive tract. We consider

Embedded 3D‐Coaxial Bioprinting of Stenotic Brain Vessels with a Mechanically Enhanced Extracellular Matrix Bioink for Investigating Hemodynamic Force‐Induced Endothelial Responses

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, a physically enhanced vascular dECM bioink and used 3D‐coaxial bioprinting are developed to fabricate mature brain blood vessels for cerebral atherosclerosis research. This model demonstrates that vascular geometry‐induced hemodynamic changes trigger vascular inflammation, ensuring its potential for cerebrovascular research.

On the steady flow of non-newtonian fluid through multi-stenosed elliptical artery: A theoretical model

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal
The study of blood flow through stenotic arteries is more important as the existence and progression of stenosis may lead to severe damage. The current study aims to analyze and understand the non-Newtonian nature of blood flow through the multi-stenosed
