Enhanced Endoscopic Internal Drainage of Gastric Abscess Through Additively Manufactured Stents

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Postoperative gastric leaks are often treated with off‐label biliary double‐pigtail stents, yet conventional extruded designs are not optimized for leak anatomy, can migrate, and may limit abscess evacuation. PETALS is introduced to optimize transmural drainage geometry and enable patient‐specific 3D‐printable stents.

Concentric cylinder viscometer flows of Herschel-Bulkley fluids

open access: yesApplied Rheology, 2019
Drilling fluids and well cements are example non-Newtonian fluids that are used for geothermal and petroleum well construction. Measurement of the non-Newtonian fluid viscosities are normally performed using a concentric cylinder Couette geometry, where ...

Knife-bladed vortices in non-Newtonian fluids [PDF]

open access: yesPapers in Physics, 2016
A tank is filled with a non-Newtonian fluid. We report on the deformation of the free surface resulting from the presence of an underlying vortex. In a tiny range of the experimental parameters, the flow spontaneously loses its initial axi-symmetry ...

Stable Protein‐Based G‐Quadruplex‐Derived Supramolecular Bioinks as Tunable ECM‐Mimetic Constructs Assembled by Combining Non‐Covalent and Covalent Strategies

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Harnessing the synergistic interplay of supramolecular self‐assembly, under macromolecular crowding conditions, and enzymatic‐mediated covalent crosslinking toward a stable protein‐based G‐quadruplex‐derived supramolecular bioink. This bioinspired strategy enables the biofabrication of complex and tunable ECM‐mimetic constructs, providing a platform ...

Impact of fuzzy volume fraction on unsteady stagnation-point flow and heat transfer of a third-grade fuzzy hybrid nanofluid over a permeable shrinking/stretching sheet

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics
In current work, the unsteady stagnation point’s flow on a special third-grade fuzzy hybrid [Formula: see text] nanofluid (HNF) through a permeable convective shrinking/stretching sheet has been scrutinized.

Effect of cross diffusion on MHD non-Newtonian fluids flow past a stretching sheet with non-uniform heat source/sink: A comparative study

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2017
The present study sought to report the combined influences of frictional and irregular heat on MHD non-Newtonian fluid (Casson and Maxwell) flows due to stretched surface. The action of thermal diffusion and diffusion thermo is scrutinized. The flow will

Dependence of drop speed on nozzle diameter, viscosity and drive amplitude in drop-on-demand ink-jet printing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Results of recent experiments and numerical simulations are presented, which have been used to establish empirical rules for the dependence of drop speed on nozzle diameter and drive amplitude for Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids printed with a range ...

Mechanically Spatio‐Chimeric Fibrin Assembly Enables Vascular‐Integrated Muscle Reconstruction for Volumetric Muscle Loss Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
SPARC (spatio‐chimeric, plasma‐based, anisotropic, and shear‐responsive construct) that integrates myogenic and vascular microenvironments within a single construct. The dual‐modulus matrix directs aligned myotube formation and endothelial network development, enabling a vascularized muscle implant that seamlessly anastomoses with host tissue and ...

Discussion on the Non-Linear Stability of Short Hydrodynamic Bearings by Applying Rabinowitsch Fluid Model

open access: yesLubricants
Using the Rabinowitsch fluid model, the effects of dilatant fluids (a non-Newtonian factor less than 0) and pseudo-plastic fluids (a non-Newtonian factor greater than 0) on the non-linear stability of hydrodynamic journal bearings is discussed.

Rheological Characterization of Shear-Thinning Fluids with a Novel Viscosity Equation of a Tank-Tube Viscometer

open access: yesApplied Rheology, 2007
A tank-tube viscometer and its novel viscosity equation were developed to determine flow characteristics of non-Newtonian fluids. The objective of this research is to test capabilities of the tank-tube viscometer and its novel non-Newtonian viscosity ...
