Beamforming Design for Downlink Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
This paper investigates the beamforming design for multiple-input single-output nonorthogonal multiple access (NOMA) downlink systems. The NOMA beamforming design is formulated as a weighted sum rate maximization (WSRM) problem with decoding order ...

Joint User Clustering and Beamforming in Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access Networks

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
The demand for higher data rate in wireless networks continues to grow, however the wireless spectrum cannot meet ever-increasing demands. Non-orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) technology is attracting attentions to overcome the lack of resource spectrum

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Downlink Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access With Limited Feedback

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2017
In this paper, we analyze downlink non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) networks with limited feedback. Our goal is to derive appropriate transmission rates for rate adaptation and minimize outage probability of minimum rate for the constant-rate data service, based on distributed channel feedback information from receivers.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access With Improper Gaussian Signaling

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Signal Processing, 2019
Improper Gaussian signaling (IGS) helps to improve the throughput of a wireless communication network by taking advantage of the additional degrees of freedom in signal processing at the transmitter. This paper exploits IGS in a general multiuser multi-cell network, which is subject to both intra-cell and inter-cell interference.
