Short Note: On Non-Oscillatory Solutions of the Recursive Sequence

Journal of Difference Equations and Applications, 2005
R. Devault et al. (J. Diff. Eq. Appl., 2003) proposed the following open problem: Do there exist non-oscillatory solutions of the equation where p is positive and the initial conditions are arbitrary positive numbers. We confirm the truth of the open problem in this note.

Classifying non-oscillatory solutions and oscillation of a neutral difference equation

Journal of Difference Equations and Applications, 2005
The authors examine the oscillatory and non-oscillatory behavior of solutions of a class of second order difference equations of neutral type that includes half-linear equations as a special case. They classify the possible non-oscillatory solutions according to their asymptotic behavior and then prove the existence of solutions of each type using ...

On non-oscillatory solutions of second order differential inequalities

Acta Mathematica Hungarica, 1983
In this paper, we are concerned with the oscillatory behaviour of solutions of the following second-order differential inequalities: (1) \((r(t)y')'-q(t)(y')^{\alpha}-p(t)y^{\gamma}>0,\) and (2) \((r(t)y')'- q(t)(y')^{\alpha}-p(t)y^{\gamma}\geq 0,\) where p,q and r are real- valued continuous functions on [0,\(\infty)\) such that p(t)\(\geq 0\), \(r(t)>

Existence of Non-Oscillatory Solutions of Second-Order Neutral Delay Difference Equations

Zeitschrift für Analysis und ihre Anwendungen, 2001
In this paper, we consider the second-order neutral delay difference equation with positive and negative coefficients \Delta r_n \Delta (x_n + cx_{n–k}) + p_{n+1}x_{n+1–m} -q_{n+1}x_{n+1-l}= 0 where c \in \mathbb R ,

Do turbulence models deteriorate solutions using a non-oscillatory scheme?

Journal of Wind Engineering and Industrial Aerodynamics, 2016
Abstract In many wind engineering applications such as wake developments in a wind farm, dynamic loads on bridges and pollutant dispersions in urban streets, a RANS/LES hybrid turbulence model is a good compromise between fidelity of solutions and computational costs. When such a model is used with non-oscillatory schemes, an extra caution is needed,
