Concept of a Generalized Law of Refraction: A Phenomenological Model [PDF]

open access: yesACS Photonics, 2020
This paper presents investigations on the generalized laws of refraction and reflection for metasurfaces made of diffractive elements. It introduces a phenomenological model that reproduces all the features of the experiments dedicated to the generalized

Lived and Care Experiences of Chronic Musculoskeletal Shoulder Pain in Australian Adults: A Qualitative Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Australian evidence on lived and care experiences of chronic musculoskeletal shoulder pain (CMSP), irrespective of disorder classification or disease, is limited. However, such evidence is important for person‐centered care and informing local service pathways and care guidelines or standards.

Geometric analysis enables biological insight from complex non-identifiable models using simple surrogates.

open access: yesPLoS Computational Biology, 2023
An enduring challenge in computational biology is to balance data quality and quantity with model complexity. Tools such as identifiability analysis and information criterion have been developed to harmonise this juxtaposition, yet cannot always resolve ...

Family non-universal U(1)′ model with minimal number of exotics

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 2021
We have studied phenomenological implications of several family non-universal U(1)′ sub-models in the U(1)′-extended Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (UMSSM) possessing an extra down quark type exotic field.

Flat Directions in Three-Generation Free-Fermionic String Models

open access: yes, 1998
In quasi-realistic string models that contain an anomalous U(1) the non-zero Fayet-Iliopoulos term triggers the shifting of the original vacuum to a new one along some flat direction, so that SUSY is preserved but the gauge group is partially broken. The

Markovian embedding of non-Markovian quantum collisional models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A wide class of non-Markovian completely positive master equations can be formulated on the basis of quantum collisional models. In this phenomenological approach the dynamics of an open quantum system is modeled through an ensemble of stochastic ...

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

CONSTRAINTS ON SCALAR AND TENSOR PERTURBATIONS IN PHENOMENOLOGICAL AND TWO-FIELD INFLATION MODELS: BAYESIAN EVIDENCES FOR PRIMORDIAL ISOCURVATURE AND TENSOR MODES [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We constrain cosmological models where the primordial perturbations have an adiabatic and a (possibly correlated) cold dark matter (CDM) or baryon isocurvature component.

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Loop Quantum Gravity Phenomenology: Linking Loops to Observational Physics

open access: yesSymmetry, Integrability and Geometry: Methods and Applications, 2012
Research during the last decade demonstrates that effects originating on the Planck scale are currently being tested in multiple observational contexts.
