Non-premixed fluidized bed combustion of C1–C4 n-alkanes

Fuel, 2011
Abstract The non-premixed combustion of C 1 –C 4 n -alkanes with air was investigated inside a bubbling fluidized bed of inert sand particles at intermediate temperatures: 923 K ⩽  T B  ⩽ 1123 K. For ethane, propane and n -butane, combustion occurred mainly in the freeboard region at bed temperatures below T 1  = 923 K.

Numerical Study of LES for Non-Premixed Combustion

2007
Non-premixed combustion arises in many important applications such as industrial furnaces, rocket engines and Diesel engines. The widespread use of nonpremixed combustion is the major motivation for the numerous model approaches to their numerical simulation.

Model of Non-Premixed Combustion of Aluminium—Air Mixtures

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2006
Shock‐induced dissemination and burning of aluminum particles in air is numerically simulated using the equilibrium chemistry approach for describing the equation of state of reacting two‐phase media. Since the initial mixture is non‐premixed it was necessary to develop a new model. Its predictive abilities and advantages are demonstrated.

Study of LES Modeling for Non-Premixed Combustion

2007
Sensitivity of LES results in turbulent non-premixed combustion to mixture fraction variance modeling, spatial scheme for mixture fraction and combustion modeling is investigated in the present research. For this purpose two simple piloted turbulent flame were selected as test cases.

Effects of fuel/air mixing distances on combustion instabilities in non-premixed combustion

Physics of Fluids
Combustion instability has been widely reported in several combustion types; however, there is limited information on different fuel/air mixing distances in non-premixed combustion. Setting different distances between air tube and fuel tubes, the fuel/air mixing distances (δ) are changed by structural variations of nozzles.

Modelling of non-premixed turbulent combustion with Conditional Moment Closure (CMC)⋆

The European Physical Journal E, 2018
Conditional Moment Closure (CMC), an advanced turbulent reacting flow method, has been applied to the challenging cases with a varying degree of turbulence-chemistry interactions. The CMC approach may be used either in the RAMS or LES context, this is reviewed in the first part of this paper, while the second part is dedicated to applications on Sandia

Review of Large-Eddy Simulation of Non-Premixed Turbulent Combustion

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 2004
Recent developments in the methodology of large-eddy simulation applied to turbulent, reacting flows are reviewed, with specific emphasis on mixture-fraction-based approaches to nonpremixed reactions. Some typical results are presented, and the potential use of the methodology in applications and the future outlook are discussed.
