Material dependence of multiaxial low cycle fatigue lives under non-proportional loading

open access: yesInternational Journal of Fatigue, 2011
. This study discusses evaluation of material dependence of multiaxial low cycle fatigue (LCF) to develop a suitable strain parameter for life estimation under non-proportional loading.

Total deformation theory for non-proportional loading

International Journal of Pressure Vessels and Piping, 1998
Abstract This study presents a technique to apply a total deformation theory to non-proportional loading cases. A total deformation theory capable of analyzing a sequence of linear non-proportional load steps is proposed. Each linear loading path is defined with reference to its previous loading path, analogous to proportional loading.

Creep rupture under non-proportional loading

Acta Metallurgica, 1980
Abstract The quasi-empirical metallurgical theory of Dyson and McLean have been used to predict the behaviour of virgin Nimonic 80A tubes tested at 750°C under reverse torsion creep. The same theory has been modified to describe the behaviour of pre-strained Nimonic 80A tubes tested under conditions of constant and reverse torque.

Stability of unbraced frames under non-proportional loading

Structural Engineering and Mechanics, 2001
This paper discusses the elastic stability of unbraced frames under non-proportional loading based on the concept of storey-based buckling. Unlike the case of proportional loading, in which the load pattern is predefined, load patterns for non-proportional loading are unknown, and there may be various load patterns that will correspond to different ...

Non-proportional loading of Nylon 66 at room temperature

International Journal of Plasticity, 1998
Abstract Tubular specimens of commercial Nylon 66 were subjected to non-proportional loading in strain control at room temperature. All tests were performed in a servohydraulic, computer-controlled, MTS axial-torsion mechanical testing machine using a biaxial clip-on extensometer.

Biaxial fatigue for proportional and non‐proportional loading paths

Fatigue & Fracture of Engineering Materials & Structures, 2004
ABSTRACTIn order to study the use of a local approach to predict crack‐initiation life on notches in mechanical components under multiaxial fatigue conditions, the study of the local cyclic elasto‐plastic behaviour and the selection of an appropriate multiaxial fatigue model are essential steps in fatigue‐life prediction. The evolution of stress–strain

LOW‐CYCLE FATIGUE UNDER NON‐PROPORTIONAL LOADING

Fatigue & Fracture of Engineering Materials & Structures, 1996
Abstract—A series of strain‐controlled, low‐cycle fatigue experiments have been conducted on 42CrMo steel under various loading paths including circular, square, cruciform, and rectangular paths. Present experiments have shown that there is additional hardening under non‐proportional cyclic loading.

A fatigue model for sensitive materials to non-proportional loadings

International Journal of Fatigue, 2015
Abstract The present study proposes a novel fatigue model based on virtual strain energy. This model separates loading paths based on their non-proportionality where directly takes into account the loading in fatigue life prediction. The proposed fatigue model is expressed in two tension-based and shear-based equations for two tensile and shear ...
