Normal‐Appearing White Matter Injury Mediates Chronic Deep Venous Hypoxia and Disease Progression in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To explore how cerebral hypoxia and Normal‐Appearing White Matter (NAWM) integrity affect MS lesion burden and clinical course. Methods Seventy‐nine MS patients, including 13 clinically isolated syndrome (CIS) patients and 66 relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) patients, and 44 healthy controls (HCs) were recruited from ...

A Depolarizing Leak in Sodium Bicarbonate Cotransporter NBCe1 Causes Brain Edema

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives SLC4A4 encodes electrogenic sodium bicarbonate cotransporter NBCe1, prominently expressed in kidney and brain. Recessive loss‐of‐function variants in SLC4A4 cause proximal renal tubular acidosis, no brain edema. In the brain, NBCe1 is expressed by astrocytes, where it regulates pH and mediates astrocyte volume changes.

Economic implications of non-revenue water and long-run marginal cost for Tulcán’s public water utility

open access: yesApplied Water Science
Non-revenue water (NRW) is a persistent global problem generated in municipal systems, causing millions of cubic meters of water to be wasted per year, becoming a financial obstacle for water and sanitation companies, and generating economic losses.

Problems and the Most Suitable Way of Supplying, Operating and Maintaining the Instruments in the Water and Wastewater Companies [PDF]

open access: yesعلوم و مهندسی آب و فاضلاب, 2019
The quality and precision of the operation of instruments, such as flowmeters, pressure gauges, altimeters, and valves are of decisive importance for all water and wastewater companies (WWCs), since they are the basis for measuring and providing data on ...

Comparative Effectiveness and Safety of Inebilizumab Versus Rituximab in AQP4‐IgG‐Positive NMOSD

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Rituximab (anti‐CD20, RTX) and inebilizumab (anti‐CD19, INE) represent B‐cell‐depleting therapies used for aquaporin‐4 antibody‐positive (AQP4‐IgG+) neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD); however, direct comparative evidence remains limited.

Optimization of District Metered Areas for Reducing Non-Revenue Water

open access: yesJurnal Presipitasi
Non-revenue water (NRW) is a significant issue for water supply in Indonesia, with a national NRW rate of 33.7% in 2022 and even higher at PT Air Minum Giri Menang (PT AMGM) at 36.21%. Although District Metered Areas (DMA) were implemented in 2018, their

Evaluation of Dried Plasma Spot‐Based Quantification of Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein as a Disease‐Associated Biomarker in Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) measured in dried plasma spots versus conventional plasma‐ and serum‐GFAP testing for assessment of disease severity in aquaporin‐4 immunoglobulin G–positive neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (AQP4‐IgG+ NMOSD).

Assessment of water loss level on the example of selected distribution systems

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2018
One of the major problems of waterworks is the excessive failure of distribution systems and associated water leaks. Water losses in water supply networks and systems are often a very high percentage of water supplied into the network.

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

Central Prediction System for Time Series Comparison and Analysis of Water Usage Data

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Revenue water flow is defined as the amount of water for which the water rate has been collected, against tap water production, whereas non-revenue water (NRW) is defined as water that has been produced, but for which payment cannot be charged.
