Collimation of a spherical collisionless particles stream in Kerr space-time

open access: yes, 2009
We examine the propagation of collisionless particles emitted from a spherical shell to infinity. The number distribution at infinity, calculated as a function of the polar angle, exhibits a small deviation from uniformity. The number of particles moving

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

A study on the sediment dispersion characteristics based on the polydisperse non-spherical particle CFD-DEM model

open access: yesShui kexue jinzhan
To investigate the suspension and diffusion mechanisms of sediment particles under the action of fluids from both particle and flow field scales, a Gaussian curvature model is introduced in the discrete element method to characterize the nonlinear ...

Transport of nonspherical particles in non-Newtonian fluid: A review [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Fluid Engineering
The transport of spherical particles in microchannel flow has been extensively studied owing to its relevance to efficient particle control, particularly in high-throughput cytometry and in single-cell detection and analysis. Despite significant advances

Tracer diffusion inside fibrinogen layers

open access: yes, 2014
We investigate the obstructed motion of tracer (test) particles in crowded environments by carrying simulations of two-dimensional Gaussian random walk in model fibrinogen monolayers of different orientational ordering.

Harnessing Fungal Biowelding for Constructing Mycelium‐Engineered Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mycelium‐bound composites (MBCs) offer low‐carbon alternatives for construction, yet interfacial bonding remains a critical challenge. This review examines fungal biowelding as a biocompatible adhesive, elucidating mycelium‐mediated interfacial mechanisms and their role in material assembly. Strategies to optimize biowelding are discussed, highlighting

Hydrodynamic interactions and the diffusivity of spheroidal particles

open access: yes, 2019
It is intuitive that the diffusivity of an isolated particle differs from those in a monodisperse suspension, in which hydrodynamic interactions between the particles are operative.

Low‐Cost, Large‐Scale Nanoporous Metals by Mechanical Alloying, Oxide Reduction, and Dealloying of Powders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Powder metal processing provides scalable advantages in nanoporous (np) metal development. Mechanical alloying is used to produce unique precursors for hybrid nanopore formation by oxide reduction and dealloying. As demonstrated in np Ag, this approach improves process efficiency while promoting smaller ligaments and larger pores, both of which are ...
