Medicine, 2016Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are widely available and a common component of overdose. Toxic effects are principally renal. At high doses, coma and hepatic injury are rarely reported. Mefenamic acid is notable as it causes convulsions, although these are usually short-lived. Treatment is to a large extent supportive.

1986This is a group of drugs with analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory properties whose main role is to provide symptomatic relief of pain and stiffness in various rheumatic and other conditions. In 1980 these drugs accounted for 5% of all patient prescriptions and around 10% of the total ingredient cost of all drugs (McLean, 1983).

2020Oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) include salicylates, fenamates, indoles, phenyl acetic acids, phenyl alkanoic acids, pyrazolone, para-aminophenols, and cycloxygenase-2 inhibitors. NSAIDs exert their role mainly through inhibition of cyclooxygenase and the prostaglandin synthesis [1, 2].
