A NEW NON-UNIFORM BOUND ON THE POISSON-BINOMIAL RELATIVE ERROR [PDF]
The Stein-Chen method is used to determine new non-uniform bounds on two forms of the relative error between the binomial and Poisson cu- mulative distribution functions. The bounds obtained in this study are sharper than those reported in Teerapabolarn (6).

Variable-Length Time Series Subsequence Query Method Supporting Uniform Scaling [PDF]
Subsequence query, a fundamental technique in time-series data analysis, aims to find subsequences similar to the target sequence. Most existing methods for subsequence query support the query of subsequences of the same length as the target sequence ...

Observation of continuum Landau modes in non-Hermitian electric circuits
Continuum Landau modes — predicted recently in a non-Hermitian Dirac Hamiltonian under a uniform magnetic field — are continuous bound states with no counterparts in Hermitian systems. However, they have still not been confirmed in experiments.

Let T be a strongly continuous semigroup acting on a complex Banach space X and let A be its infinitesimal generator. It is well-known [29,33] that the uniform spectral bound $s_0(A)$ of the semigroup T is negative provided that all solutions to the ...

A model-based comparison of life expectancy by smoking status
Introduction Tobacco smoking is associated with significantly increased risks of lung cancer, cardiovascular disease, COPD, and other serious illnesses. Globally, it causes more than 7 million deaths annually, about 75% of which occur in men.

Asymptotic Capacity Bounds for Wireless Networks with Non-Uniform Traffic
We develop bounds on the capacity of wireless networks when the traffic is non-uniform, i.e., not all nodes are required to receive and send similar volumes of traffic. Our results are asymptotic, i.e., they hold with probability going to unity as the number of nodes goes to infinity.

Non-uniform Berry-Esséen bound for \(U\)-statistics.
Summary: Non-uniform Berry-Esséen bounds for \(U\)-statistics are derived by using a new and simple method. Extensions to \(U\)-type statistics and \(L\)-statistics are also discussed.
