Impact of a senior research thesis on students' perceptions of scientific inquiry in distinct student populations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study addressed how a senior research thesis is perceived by undergraduate students. It assessed students' perception of research skills, epistemological beliefs, and career goals in Biochemistry (science) and BDC (science‐business) students. Completing a thesis improved confidence in research skills, resilience, scientific identity, closed gender‐

Efficient side lobe level reduction technique for planar antenna arrays

open access: yesResults in Engineering
This paper presents a novel array synthesis technique based on the virtual antenna array (VAA) concept for side lobe level (SLL) reduction of uniform planar antenna arrays (UPAA).

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Study on the Dynamic Response of Large Slopes Under Non-Uniform Seismic Excitation Considering the Slope Scale

open access: yesApplied Sciences
In the existing studies of slope stability under seismic excitation, the non-uniform spatiotemporal dynamic response and amplification effect caused by the slope scale are often overlooked.

Quench from Mott Insulator to Superfluid

open access: yes, 2012
We study a linear ramp of the nearest-neighbor tunneling rate in the Bose-Hubbard model driving the system from the Mott insulator state into the superfluid phase.

Raman transitions between hyperfine clock states in a magnetic trap [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We present our experimental investigation of an optical Raman transition between the magnetic clock states of $^{87}$Rb in an atom chip magnetic trap.

The Aging Blood: Cellular Origins, Circulating Drivers, and Therapeutic Potential

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
As a conduit linking all organs, the blood system both reflects and actively drives systemic aging. This review highlights how circulating pro‐aging and antiaging factors and age‐associated hematopoietic stem cell dysfunction contribute to immunosenescence and multi‐organ decline, positioning the hematopoietic system as a target for aging intervention.

Optimization and Validation of Rotating Current Excitation with GMR Array Sensors for Riveted Structures Inspection

open access: yesSensors, 2016
In eddy current non-destructive testing of a multi-layered riveted structure, rotating current excitation, generated by orthogonal coils, is advantageous in providing sensitivity to defects of all orientations.

Single-particle excitations in the uniform electron gas by diagrammatic Monte Carlo

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
We calculate the single-particle excitation spectrum and the Landau liquid parameters for the archetypal model of solids, the three-dimensional uniform electron gas, with the variational diagrammatic Monte Carlo method, which gives numerically controlled

Widefield fluorescence microscopy with extended resolution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Widefield fluorescence microscopy is seeing dramatic improvements in resolution, reaching today 100nm in all three dimensions. This gain in resolution is achieved by dispensing with uniform Köhler illumination.
