The empirical breakdown law is extended to the evaluation of breakdown voltage under nonuniform field conditions. The effects of pressure and gap length are investigated. It is shown that, in nonuniform field conditions, the exponential relation between breakdown voltage and molecular density (pressure) is not affected.

Ray Computation for Non-Uniform Fields

A formula is derived which simplifies the computation and tracing of rays in non-uniform sound fields. In applying it, a field is first assumed to be equivalent to an array of horizontally homogeneous strata each with a uniform gradient of the speed of sound. Then the “range” of the ray through the whole array can be computed by the formula in one step,

Harmonic Fields in a Non Uniform Plasma

The magnitudes of the harmonic fields which are generated when an alternating electric field is applied to a plasma are calculated. The plasma has a density gradient and is immersed in a uniform static magnetic field. The harmonics are very strongly excited near the upper hybrid frequency.

Abstract Two realistic methods based on a generalized conservation equation of image brightness are proposed for the accurate determination of motion fields under non-uniform illumination. The conservation equation includes spatial and temporal derivatives of image brightness, a motion vector and a rate of brightness generation.
