Review on Non Uniform Rational B-Spline (NURBS): Concept and Optimization
Advanced Materials Research, 2014This paper is to provide literature review of the Non Uniform Rational B-Splines (NURBS) formulation in the curve and surface constructions. NURBS curves and surfaces have a wide application in Computer Aided Geometry Design (CAGD), Computer Aided Design (CAD), image processing and etc.

Set of methods based on non-uniform rational B-spline (NURBS) are proposed in this article, which are adopted to improve the smoothness during short linear numerical control (NC) codes machining. The smoothness refers to two aspects: the contour fairness of CL trajectory and the machining stability of the machine tool.

Abstract This paper presents an algorithm for collision free path planning of autonomous manipulators among obstacles. The algorithm uses powerful features of Non-Uniform Rational B-splines (NURBS) to determine the path of the manipulator in the complimentary space of the obstacles.

For many years, incompatible computer-aided design (CAD) packages that are based on Non-uniform Rational B-Spline (NURBS) technology carried out the exchange of models and data through either neutral file formats (IGES or STEP) or proprietary formats that have been accepted as quasi industry standards.
