Self-excited rotor whirl due to tip-seal leakage forces [PDF]
The limitations in the performance of turbomachines which arise as a result of selfexcited vibration were investigated. Bearing forces, elastic hysteresis, and forces from fluid flow through clearances were considered as possible origins.

In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.

Fluorine‐Free Soft Nanocomposites for High‐Speed Liquid Impact Repellence
Fluorine‐free soft nanocomposite coatings are developed using silicone oil‐mediated mechanical‐stiffness control, enabling ‘dry’ liquid‐repellent surfaces that resist high‐speed water jet impacts up to ∼60 m/s. By tuning nanoparticle loading and oil content, the coatings also achieve >90% optical transparency, amphiphobicity with impact resistance to ...

Advanced turbo-prop airplane interior noise reduction-source definition [PDF]
Acoustic pressure amplitudes and phases were measured in model scale on the surface of a rigid semicylinder mounted in an acoustically treated wind tunnel near a prop-fan (an advanced turboprop with many swept blades) model.

Conductive Bonding and System Architectures for High‐Performance Flexible Electronics
This review outlines bonding technologies and structural design strategies that support high‐performance flexible and stretchable electronics. Bonding approaches such as surface‐activated bonding and anisotropic conductive films, together with system‐level architectures including buffer layers and island‐bridge structures, possess distinct mechanical ...

The use of continuous drop‐based force and energy probing methods is introduced to evaluate in situ chemical degradation of super liquid‐repellent surfaces by caustic liquids. By tracking the velocity of rolling drops and energy dissipation of impacting drops, degradation dynamics are resolved under high spatio‐temporal precision. Using this technique,

Influence of disk leakage path on labyrinth seal inlet swirl ratio [PDF]
The results of numerous investigators have shown the importance of labyrinth seal inlet swirl on the calculated dynamic stiffness of labyrinth seals. These results have not included any calculation of inlet leakage swirl as a function of geometry and ...

This study presents a dynamic interaction between liquid resins and photopolymerized structures enabled by an in situ light‐writing setup. By controlling a three‐phase interface through localized photopolymerization, which provides physical confinement for the remaining uncured resin regions, the approach establishes a programmable pathway that ...
