Non-variceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding

Best Practice & Research Clinical Gastroenterology, 2001
Severe upper gastrointestinal bleeding remains a common medical emergency. In the last two decades endoscopy has become the cornerstone of diagnosis, risk stratification and treatment of peptic ulcer bleeding. Drug treatment of non-variceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding

Best Practice & Research Clinical Gastroenterology, 2000
Despite many clinical investigations, proof is lacking that pharmacological treatments significantly influence the outcome in non-variceal upper gastrointestinal bleeding. Reaching conclusions has been hindered by the small size of many studies in a situation in which a large number of patients must be included if confident conclusions are to be ...

Angiography and transcatheter arterial embolization for non-variceal gastrointestinal bleeding

Scandinavian Journal of Gastroenterology, 2020
Acute non-variceal gastrointestinal bleeding (NVGIB) is one of the most common medical emergencies, leading to significant morbidity and mortality without proper management. This study was to analyze the causes of NVGIB and to evaluate the safety, efficacy, and feasibility of transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) for the treatment of NVGIB.From ...

Acute non-variceal gastrointestinal bleeding

2019
Acute upper gastrointestinal haemorrhage accounts for approximately 25 000 hospital admissions each year in the United Kingdom. Only a small minority had sustained variceal haemorrhage, and it is unlikely that the scoring system can be applied to that group of patients. Bleeding tends to be more severe in patients who have haematemesis and melaena than

Endoscopic ethanol sclerotherapy in non‐variceal gastrointestinal bleeding

Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, 1988
Upper gastrointestinal bleeding still causes significant morbidity and mortality in spite of an aggressive medical and surgical approach. Endoscopic methods of treatment promise early and effective non‐surgical control of bleeding. Endoscopic injection of ethanol has been used to control gastrointestinal bleeding in a prospective study of 28 high risk ...

[Effect of pantoprazole on non-variceal bleeding].

Hunan yi ke da xue xue bao = Hunan yike daxue xuebao = Bulletin of Hunan Medical University, 2003
The treatment effect of 101 non-variceal bleeding(NVB) patients treated with pantoprazole was observed, and it was compared with 57 NVB patients treated with omeprazole.87.1% of the patients in 48 h and 97% of the patients in 72 h with Pantoprazole bleeding-stopped. And the result was almost equal to omeprazole group.
