Textile‐Based Capacitive Pressure Sensors Enabled by Ultrasonic Spray‐Coated Carbon Black Electrodes and Electrostatic Flocking

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
A 4‐layer Kevlar‐based composite is fabricated by combining ultrasonic spraying and electrostatic flocking. Carbon black dispersion is first deposited onto Kevlar fabric to create a conductive electrode. Nylon fibers are then electrostatically flocked onto the coated fabric, forming a dielectric layer.

Moisture‐Adaptive Triboelectric Materials and Platforms: Design Strategies, Performance Enhancement, and Applications in Energy Harvesting and Wearable Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This review summarizes moisture‐adaptive strategies that enable triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) to operate across diverse moisture conditions. It examines moisture‐management methods, including exclusion, directional transport, removal, and utilization, with charge‐regulation approaches based on interfacial, dielectric, and structural engineering.

Embedded Corrosion Sensing with ZnO-PVDF Sensor Textiles

open access: yesSensors, 2020
Corrosion in underground and submerged steel pipes is a global problem. Coatings serve as an impermeable barrier or a sacrificial element to the transport of corrosive fluids. When this barrier fails, corrosion in the metal initiates. There is a critical

Fire temperature influence on the textile reinforced concrete with non-woven polypropylene fabric

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2019
Abstract Textile reinforced concrete with non-woven polypropylene fabric has variable utilization for non-load bearing structures. One of the possible uses is production of facade panels or protective layers in the interior of buildings. For that reason it is important to determine fire resistance of this material.

Soft Robotic Excretory Care Simulator for Nursing Education: Functional and Perceptual Biomimetics Approach

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A soft robotic simulator is developed to replicate the digital removal of feces (DRF), a sensitive yet essential nursing procedure. Integrating soft actuators, sensors, and a realistic rectal model, the simulator balances functional fidelity with perceptual realism. Engineering evaluations and nurse feedback confirm its potential to enhance training in

Liquid Crystalline Elastomers in Soft Robotics: Assessing Promise and Limitations

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Liquid crystalline elastomers (LCEs) are programmable soft materials that undergo large, anisotropic deformation in response to external stimuli. Their molecular alignment encodes directional actuation in a monolithic structure, making them long‐standing candidates for soft robotic systems.

A Multidirectional Textile Interface for Remote Control Using Dynamic Area‐Based Capacitance Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Here, we present a textile, wearable capacitive interface enabling multidirectional remote control by dynamically modulating electrode overlap and spacing via a freely gliding upper electrode. A forearm‐mounted prototype drives robotic and media tasks with 12–15 ms latency, maintains < 0.8% drift after 500 cycles, and remains stably functional at 90 ...
